Certified as a Diplomat by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Howard Gross established Horizon Eye Care in 1994 and has since provided comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages, including the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma and diabetes.
In addition to his over 20 years of practice experience, Dr. Gross is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is a clinical research investigator for surgical product advancements seeking FDA approval.He graduated from George Washington Medical School and completed his ophthalmology training at University of California, Davis.

Dr. Dean (as he likes to be called) joined Horizon Eye Care in 1999 after fifteen years of private practice throughout the area. He is an optometrist, providing general eye care with emphasis on contact lenses to the Horizon Eye Care patients in Margate, Galloway and English Creek. In addition to general optometric training, Dr Dean is licensed to prescribe therapeutic medications to his patients.

Dr. Matthew Perez is a great Eye doctor. He is very professional and courteous and I trust him completely with my eye care. He recently did cataract surgery on each eye at different times, and I now have 20/20 vision for distance in both eyes! I think that’s pretty good, since I am 72 years old! I would highly recommend Dr. Perez and his professional staff for all of your eye care!

Horizon provided a unique experience for me having cataract surgery on both eyes . Dr.Perez and his team were extremely professional. I was completely comfortable with both surgerys. The staff and Dr Perez were also able to inject a personal touch that gives one piece of mind. Being a fitness professional I really enjoyed how our discussion of my footwear ( I wear Hoka sneakers) during surgery was really fun.

I was referred through a long time patient to Horizon Eye Care. I thought because of the location that the service would be exceptional but how wrong I was. I been wearing contacts for 30 years and never had any issues with the right prescription until visiting Horizon. The disparity between my left and right eye is unmistakably noticeable. First time ever this happened to me not to mention I tried calling to get in for the doctor to fix the prescription but to no avail they are either never there or on a perpetual lunch where you're forced to leave a voicemail which I also did. I came in first in november of 2020 for a consultation for lasik, we then immediately put it on the calendar for dec 20. i came into the office after taking the drugs they told me to take. when i got to the office they put me in the gown, had me take tests, and had them take my temperature. i sat and waited for 30 minutes before they told me they couldn’t do my surgery because they didn’t have the right drugs for me to take. they proceeded to cancel my appointment 4 more times. Expedited my appt. as I was pretty sure I had detached retina. They saw me within the hour - met with Dr Pritz - very pleasant and professional - referred me immediately to Retina specialist in Mays Landing. Not only did they confirm the retinal detachment in one eye but discovered a retinal tear in the other.
Within 24 hrs I was at the Wills Eye Hispital in Philadelphia being operated on and a gas bubble was placed in my eye.
Everyone was courteous and professional.
Highly recommend all parties involved.
I truly believe the quick action by the Horizon Eye care team saved my left eye.

Called at 8am for an emergency was told someone would return my call within a few minutes. At 11am still had not heard from them, I called back and was told the samething that they are busy give them a few minutes and they would get right back to me. Unprofessional staff with questionable equipment reliability. Went for LASIK surgery, sat in the waiting room outside the OR as a patient, who wasn't in the right condition for surgery but was still pushed through, had an issue. Thanks to the gabby nurses and otherwise dead silence, I heard everything about this patient and the problem that had come up. Then as they spent an hour working with this angry patient, the laser broke! Again thanks to the silent room and free talking staff i heard all about the multiple failures that were happening and how they wanted to rig up the laser so they could

I've been coming to Horizon Eye Care since my youth and they have never been disappointed. I'm always greeted with a smile and hello every time I come to the Optical or Optometry departments. Their staff treats everyone like family. The Optical department has the best selection of the latest styles of sunglasses and eyewear in the area at reasonable prices. Eric in the Optical department is one of the nicest people I've ever met. If I ever have trouble with my glasses he's my guy. Couldn't have asked for better doctors, customer service, and a fabulous personnel staff. I always feel welcome, helped with quickly, and all of my eye care needs are met. Also, the staff up in Optical are terrific and always help me find a pair of glasses that suit my face and personality best. I checked out a few pairs of designer sunglasses elsewhere and returned to see if they could possibly order this pair for me. Not only were they able to do so, but they sold them to me cheaper than retail stores! I definitely recommend this location for eye exams and fashionable eyewear.
