Services
The BJJ program offers classes for beginners through advanced students. Beginner classes teach the basics of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You will start out with fundamental defense, escape, and submission techniques from varying positions along with counters to each of the techniques.
Intermediate and advance classes build upon the beginner curriculum teaching you how to transition and move smoothly to flow from one position to another to obtain "dominant" control of your opponent and apply a submission technique.Advance techniques like "sweeps" and "take-downs" are practiced along with the counters.

Please try to arrive 10-15 minutes early so that you can meet the staff and instructor, sign a waiver and get you set up with a loaner gi (uniform) if necessary. You should wear comfortable athletic clothing (tshirt or compression shirt, sweatpants or shorts or board shorts). Females - you will feel more comfortable with a top that is not low cut, plus a sports bra, and long board shorts or sweat pants.

Great gym, super friendly team and environment. No ego maniacs, wonderful place to train with controlled but intense grapplers. Got put in some bad positions and no one tried to hurt me. Definitely a safe training environment for someone new to Jiu Jitsu or a longtime practitioner.

Paragon BJJ is an excellent gym. My entire family trains there. The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. They are great with kids and beginners as well as experienced practitioners. We have been members for almost 5 years now and plan on training here for many years. If you are looking to try out Jiu Jitsu, come try a class. You won’t regret it!!

My husband and I had the chance to drop-in for a class at Paragon. We were on a road trip camping in SLO, and really needed some mat time. First off, what a great community they have built. Everyone was friendly, and we felt welcome. The class itself was great. We received lots of attention, and I also picked up a few tricks. The instructor also took time to give me pointers on how to best use the techniques on a larger opponent. You can tell everyone is passionate about the practice. We look forward to visiting again next time we are in SLO.

First time experience was incredible! We are visiting from out of town, my boys train in Jiujitsu back home… The staff were so welcoming my kids got a fantastic work out, learned something new and gained more confidence stepping into unfamiliar territory. It is obvious that the owners truly are experts in their field, and they have tremendous patience to teach others this skill. Absolutely fantastic for children, brilliant work out for adults. Clean, professional business run by people who are they are for the right reasons… They have a passion for their work and it shows. Highly highly recommended

Highly recommended...staff are beyond competent, the ratio of instructors to children provide a great one on one experience that makes newcomers feel very comfortable. Incredibly professional. Adult experience is challenging in the right ways. Supportive learning, very patient and inspiring. Great family business.

Dropped in on a visit to SLO and had a great time in coach John's nogi class!! Top notch instruction and technique. Marty at the front desk was super helpful with my questions and getting me set up with class times. I highly recommend training here if you're in the area. Awesome facility and great people!! 🤙🏽👍🏽
*I also had the pleasure of rolling at the Arroyo Grande school's Fri open mat. I got the same warm welcome and great rolls in with some beasts from white to brown belt. Killer squad here, great place to train!!
