Bangor is an old gold rush town named after early settlers' (the Lumbert brothers) hometown of Bangor, Maine. It is located in Butte Count. The northern Sierra foothill appellation's warm climate, ideal hillside location and rocky, decomposed granite soil shows potential to produce wines with intense character, complexity and depth.

Our vineyards have the honor of growing the following varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sarah, Cabernet Franc and Primativo. In the early 1900's, an orchard of Mission olives trees were planted on the property. We offer both wine and our Extra Virgin Estate Olive Oil for tasting. In June of 2017, sister's Karen Papillon and Nancy Williams acquired the winery.
Services
The vineyards at Bangor Ranch have been designed to produce optimum quality fruit using sustainable, low-input farming techniques. These are not just trendy buzzwords; it means that our grapes will be grown under optimum conditions using organic fertilizers and a minimal use of chemicals and tillage practices.
The grape materials we have planted at Bangor Ranch have been carefully selected for an ideal match with the microclimate, exposure and soil types found here. The hot sunny days, afternoon breezes and western exposure dictate varieties that thrive in the heat yet produce high quality fruit. The rocky, decomposed granite soil types and hillside topography suggest rootstocks that grow deep and can handle drought conditions.
Take Highway 99 South toward Oroville to Highway 70. Turn left on Ophir Road heading east (name of the road changes to Lower Wyandotte Road as you pass the Feather Falls Casino). Lower Wyandotte Road ends in a "T" at Foothill Boulevard. Turn right on Foothill Blvd. Turn right onto Oro-Bangor Highway.

Hubby and I visited yesterday and I am so glad we did. The new owner Karen is so personable, great new tasting room that is wheelchair accessible and the wines were delicious! We bought a couple bottles of the Pinot Grigio which is a great summer wine. We did really like the Syrah/Malbec and may go back to get some bottles of that.

Tasted six wines and two were exceptional. This vineyard and winery was destroyed in the fire, has been replanted and is producing outstanding wines. Tasting was pleasant and relaxing.

Karen was most welcoming and said we were her first tasters since the Covid. The tasting was a wonderful experience with the wines being quite delicious ! We will definitely be bringing friends and family for tastings. She is a fire survivor, and now a Covid survivor. Please go visit this winery, you won’t regret it !
