Gray Pine Winery
Dear friends of Gray Pine. the winery tasting room remains closed. Given the current outlook, we don't expect to re-open anytime soon. In the mean time, we continue to make sales via email using Square, with "curbside pickup". If you are interested in a wine purchase and winery pickup, please send email to sales@graypinewinery.com and we will send you a price list and tasting notes!

Named for the native California Gray Pine which is prevalent in our area, Gray Pine Vineyard & Winery is a small, limited-production winery located in Penn Valley, California, in the Sierra Foothills, with an annual production of approximately 350 cases. We grow our own grapes on our two-acre vineyard and make our own wines.

Gray Pine is one of my favorite wineries in the region. The wines are consistent year after year and as one other reviewer noted, Guy is a fantastic guy to spend time with.

This is one of favorite wineries in Nevada county! Guy is very passionate about wine making and it shows in his wines! The view is amazing from the patio looking out over the vineyard.

Great small out of the way winery with a view. You deal directly with owner/winemaker who loves the old style Bordeaux wines. We bought a case it was so good!

Great time tasting Gray Pine wines. Proprietor, Guy has crafted some very well rounded, impressive wines. Looking forward to bringing friends to the winery.

Great wine, great people, and it doesn't hurt when family lives down the hill. The owner, Guy, is so knowledgeable and very friendly. I'm not typically a white lover but their Sauvignon Blanc was delicious and refreshing on this hot Sunday afternoon. We tasted all of the wines available, and none of us wine lovers were disappointed. I can't wait to be back in the fall, when I am in town visiting again so I can stop on in again.

Delicious! We came across this place as we were exploring different wineries in the Grass Valley/Nevada City. It is worth a trip! The tasting room overlooks the vines and onto the valley! There are chairs outside to just come hang out with a glass of their yummy wine. We talked with the owner and winemaker while he poured us his delectable wines. We were more than impressed! We left with 3 bottles and will be back for more!

We found this little gem on Saturday. What a quaint little place and friendly owner. We had a great time chatting with him while enjoying our wine tasting. I thought all the wines were very good! Highly recommend stopping by and checking this place out.

One of the best Gems in Nevada County. Went there to taste his Bordeaux varietals, some of the best I've had. Guy the winemaker definitely knows his wines, all were nicely balanced with good character. Then he brought out his new Pine Ridge blend, absolutely delicious. We walked away with 6 bottles of the blend.

It's great to see a small young winery in Penn Valley doing so well. Several of Guy Lauterbach's wines have won awards in state competition. While the selection may be small, the quality and taste is excellent and Guy is a pleasure to visit with. His Cabernet Sauvignons are my favorite.

When we arrived the tasting room should of been closed, but as a rarely frequenting visitors we were not aware the tasting room closed at 4 pm. It was roughly 4:45 when we parked and saw a group leaving, so we assumed like most of the local wineries, tastings continued to 5 pm.

It seems the owner had decided that he would wait for us as his last tasting of the day, something we were incredibly grateful for as the reds were some of the best I have tasted in the area. Unfortunately none of the whites had been open that day, so we didn't get the opportunity to try them during this visit.
