I am 83 and no one ever told me that my feet are uneven in size. Well, at least until I got measured last week at Carl's. With a set of inserts - my new shoes fit. I bought both black and cordovan. Had to order the cordovan - only waited a week. Also got some sort of protective spray. I am a satisfied customer.

My podiatrist recommended Carls. I was taken care of by Jeff. He wasn't very friendly and in my size they only had two sneaker styles to show me. I put my faith in his recommendation ($150 New Balance) and all I get now is pain and corns where I have hammertoes. Definitely not the proper sneakers or fit. I bought them in the summer but never wore them until two weeks ago so can't return them. Will go to the New Balance store for a sneaker with a rounded toe box. They advertise shoes in all sizes but they are very limited on all sizes. I wear an 11W and they only had one sandal to show

I didn't have an appointment, & apparently you need one to receive any kind of decent service. I needed to get a new pair of Dansko's for work $145, so not cheap. The attitude of the woman who decided to help me was beyond rude, & i left there wanting to actually run out the door! I

I've been shopping at Carl's Shoes for a long time. I started by purchasing my children's school shoes there because of the selection. Later, I was having issues finding a pair of good workout sneakers so I went to Carl's. Carl Barone took the time to measure my feet and explain to me that I had been wearing the wrong size for years. The size I wear in shoes is not the same as I wear in sneakers. I haven't had a problem since then. I continue to buy my shoes and sneakers there, and so does my husband. And recently, I brought my first grandchild to Carl's for his first pair of walking shoes and

Staff is VERY helpful, friendly and polite! I've visited Carl's Shoes for four years running to find Diabetic-friendly shoes and to have custom Diabetic inserts made (thanks to a referral from my podiatrist). The sales team really works hard to find the right fit on shoes as well as work with my insurance. I actually just saw Carl in person yesterday and he was very friendly, as well as his grandson. I've had a great experience every time I've visited!

I had a wonderful experience at this store the other day. I made an appointment for my one year old baby to get fitted for some shoes. The staff was so kind and helpful and clearly very experienced with children. My baby was giving them a hard time while trying on shoes but they were so patient with him. I bought two pairs of shoes! Also, I had a coupon that I accidentally left at home and they honored it anyway! Great service! I will definitely be shopping here again in the future!

I called to make an appointment as directed on their website. The owner’s grandson made an appointment for today, Wednesday at 4:00 PM. Their website and sign on their door stated they closed at 5:00 PM. The sales person Jan, was very nice. The two sales fellas, one was a grandson, kept mentioning they close at 4:30 (the lights flickered at 4:15). This made us feel rushed and uncomfortable. Jan brought several options, but the sales guys kept mentioning they closed at 4:30, almost heckling her. I asked why their website and sign on the door said 5:00. I was told summer hours! Needless to say

My husband needed shoes and custom insoles as prescribed by his podiatrist so we went to Carl's. He picked two pairs of shoes and his insoles were molded. Well, my husband kept insisting that they were too big and his podiatrist agreed. Our Doctor told us to go a half size smaller. That did not go over well at Carl's. The shoe salesman said to us, does your doctor fit shoes? And also at one point he said to get our doctor on the phone and he would straighten him out. But, when I picked up my phone he backtracked on that statement.
Now we get to the insole issues...They were WRONG

My 22 month old son was having some trouble with his feet that I wanted to get a shoes for him and properly measured. I was referred to Carl's. I drove 45 minutes to be treated completely awful. I went in The morning in hoping I could be in and out. I was helped by a sales clerk named Megan. I really thought at first this could be a nice experience but my son was scared and was crying. The other sales clerks and Megan made me completely embarrassed. Instead of being a bit more understanding, I was pushed out. Also, the comments I received were mortifying by customers and the sales. The sales people, and owners of Carl's Shoes are wonderful people. I took my grandson in for his first pair of shoes, and they fitted him with the perfect pair! After hearing I had a house fire a few weeks before, and lost most of what was in the house, the owner gave my grandson his shoes as a gift.
As I've been replacing our immediate living essentials every person I've come in contact with, of course is sympathetic to us being displaced by a house fire, especially during the holidays. The difference with Carl's Shoes is you are dealing with a family that has been dedicated

My doctor referred me here for diabetic shoes. My sister drove me all the way there from Ocean City, and the staff here couldn't have been more rude. The salesman literally threw my insurance card and prescription right onto my lap and ran away mumbling something incoherent. The place was busy and I called him out, but my sister and I decided to leave. What a waste! This place isn't worth it. I've never been treated so rudely in a retail setting. That salesman should be fired.

My Grandma used to take me here as a little girl so naturally I wanted to take my boys here. First time going back the salesman made fun the the shoes my boys were currently wearing....whatever no big deal let me give this place a second chance. Went back for some stride rite event and stood for 15 min before anyone asked me for help. I actually had to ask one of the three ladies just standing behind the counter if I'm supposed to take a number. Plus she didn't even really know what was going on for the "event". I remember this place being great and so helpful. I will never

Dear Carl (and son, and all other employees),
Thank you so much for helping make the world a greater place for my father. He's been coming to you for years, for his special shoe rises, and you never disappoint. I was lucky enough to see you all in action and even with other customers in the store, you were all able to keep them happy and serve my dad's needs at the same time (and he's not a very patient man!) You were kind enough to listen to the problem, address the issue and fix the problem on the spot, and since it was a temporary fix, didn't even charge him for it, which

Have to write in for a great experience - buying shoes.lYou're almost transported to a period where shoe salespeople know what they are talking about, won't rush you, and try getting you shoe that's best for your comfort, look, safety, and fit. It's a huge part of your wardrobe you should do it right. Went in and had a great visit and experience and very glad about my experience - hard to say that in retail anymore. Steve H was my salesperson and he even did a while I waited stretching of a shoe for one foot that improved the fit. Again hard to find a shopping experience for

Have lived in the area for many years but never went in there until today. It seemed a little odd when I walked in, 3 or 4 salesmen are all sitting around chatting with a few customers like they're having tea in Aunt Tillie's parlor after Grandma's wake Felt like I was intruding on their private gathering. It's apparently not a mainstream shoe store for everyone, but the target market is unclear to me. The shoes are not too stylish or attractive and all are around $180.

Simple review. Went in to get the heels
of my pumps repaired--the rubber tip on the bottom. Was concerned cause the rubber tip was beige (not black) and the leather was scraped near the bottom. They replaced it with beige rubber heel thingies and the back/bottom of my pumps looked brand new again!! Great service too!! Simple, quick, organized.

Yesterday my husband set out to buy some new shoes. He went to Carl's hoping to get shoes to help his troubled feet. He was helped by a gentleman by the name of Rob. More "salesmen " should be like him. He was informative, helpful, honest, knowledgeable, humorous. I could go on! My husband and I were both extremely satisfied. We came away with 2 pairs of shoes and an improvement made to his current pair. No one has ever been this helpful before. Thanks Rob!!

I was referred to Jeffrey (pedorthitist) at Carls by my orthopedic physician. This was after yrs of orthotics at podiatrists offices and pharmacies that could not alleviate my pain. Cons:. You DO have to make an appointment on Saturdays and on most days there are significant wait times. The selection of shoes is somewhat limited. The prices for shoes is generally higher than most retail stores. Pros: hands down the most knowledgeable staff for orthotics and fittings that I have found. After years of expensive orthotics that never alleviated my pain, Carl's was able to quickly identify and

I need the services of a pedorthist, so I decided to try Carl's. I went on a Saturday afternoon and was told rather abruptly that I needed an appointment. I said I'd come back, but no one offered to make me an appointment. In all, I felt like they treated me like I stepped in some dog stuff. I won't try there again - the shoes I need and the work involved are pretty expensive, and for my money, I'm not going to be treated like a piece of garbage.

Mixed feelings. Some of the sales people are nice and helpful, but others definitely are not. I think they do a good job with kids and appreciate the reminders when it's time to bring the little ones in for a new fitting. However -- the selection is quite limited, the prices are marked up over other stores, and they always try to convince me to buy shoes that are too big! Carl's is a town institution, but I'd rather go elsewhere.
