Pearl City Medical Associates remains open and continues to provide patient care, whether in-person or via telemedicine. We are committed to keeping our patients and community safe and healthy by staying up-to-date on current CDC guidelines. If you are ill or have a question, please call our office to discuss if a telephone visit or an in-person visit is most appropriate.
Services
Joseph Nishimoto, a General Practitioner, founded Pearl City Medical Associates, Inc. in the summer of 1957 in Pearl City, Hawaii. He was one of only a handful of physicians practicing in the Leeward area at the time. After several years in solo practice, pediatrician, Dr. Edward Kagihara, joined him.
1. Please inform the receptionist of any insurance changes and present your new medical insurance card upon arrival for your appointment. If there is a PCP named on your medical insurance card, the PCP must be a current Pearl City Medical Associates, Inc. (PCMA) physician. This will ensure proper billing and prevent any uncovered services by your health plan.
Office visits are by appointment only. If you should walk-in, you will be accommodated after all other patients with scheduled appointments are seen. We always strive to see our patients on time. However, we are unable to anticipate when patient emergencies arise, and/or when patient visits take longer than expected.
Your personal physician may not always be available. The doctors provide coverage for each other, and you may receive a call back from the physician on call. You may call the Physicians Exchange at (808)524-2575 to reach the on-call physician when our office and phone lines are closed. If you are experiencing a medical emergency when our office and phone lines are closed, please call 911.
We have a refill line available to leave a message requesting prescription refills for your primary care physician. When you call the Adult Medicine or Pediatrics Department phone line, you can press "1" to be transferred to the refill line. Phone number where the requestor or patient can be reached in the event there are any problems with the request.

My whole family goes to PCMA. It can be busy but I am always able to get appointments for my sons and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Horrible.
We have never been seen on time. Every time we have an appointment, we wait 45 mins to an hour. When we are finally seen, the treatment we receive is just ok. We are currently looking for a new doctor. Having patients wait this long is disrespectful and shows a lack of care for the patient and their families.

I've been going to PC Medical for years. After my experience today I'd give them ZERO stars and feel like changing Dr.
I had an appointment at 8am 12/7/18
I arrived just a few minutes late. No later than 5 minutes. First the receptionist calls me and tells me, Dr has a tight schedule and he has a board meeting in the afternoon. Can you reschedule to another day? I show her a discusseded face. Then she tells me, let me call the nurse and check. I sit down for a few minutes, then the receptionist calls me back and tells me sorry but you have to reschedule. I ask her was that meeting something last

Best Primary Physician on the planet. Dr Buto is my QB. With my health issues and the different doctors I see, Dr Buto juggles it all and monitors all my prescriptions. He's very personal and cares. Unfortunately for those who are not his patient, Dr Buto is booked because he's just that good. My Doctor for life.

Was referred to them by Queens Medical Center that said they were accepting my insurance. To be sure I went and checked my insurance and confirmed them as accepting new patients with my insurance. When I called they said they needed to check with the business department and would get back to me and hung up. I waited about 24 hours to hear back from them when I didn't hear anything I called them. When I was apparently transferred to the person that could help me they were rude and informed me that they were not currently taking my insurance and when I asked them what they meant I was informed that
