Boys summer camp on Bantam Lake in Morris, CT with awesome Motor Sports, Waterski Camp & 40+ activities. A close-knit community of 160 campers & caring staff. Awosting - Where Boys Learn by Doing! Awosting's programs are specific to the age of the boys. Our youngest campers spend time on skill development and as they grow, we provide a greater focus on activity specialization and opportunities for independence.
After camp ended, I was so happy hearing my 2 sons talking about camp and telling stories about the many different things at Awosting that they tried. My oldest said he loved being himself! I highly recommend Camp Awosting!

Services
Awosting is a camp that emphasizes individual attention to campers by our experienced, caring staff and camp administration. Life at Awosting is informal and friendly. This close-knit atmosphere allows us to focus on developing Awosting's core values in our campers - brotherhood, independence, confidence and experience.
We embrace the spirit of brotherhood as one of our core values. Our community is the lifeblood of Awosting - when you join us for the first time you truly become part of the family. Our program design has a strong focus on working together as a cohesive unit to reach a common goal. At Awosting, we recognize leadership and emphasize the importance of looking out for each other.
The Motocross is a huge hit with our older campers (age 11+). Whether it is on our trails through the woods, or on the circuit track, campers have the opportunity to race against each other. Helmets and long pants are required of all riders. Formal safety and bike maintenance lessons are built into the morning instruction periods.
Life at Awosting is informal and friendly. What else would you expect from a family which has been raised at summer camp? Over 30 activity areas are spread out on the Awosting campus and campers will try everything. This includes swimming, canoeing, sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and riding go-karts.
Our 16 cabins are located along shore of Bantam Lake. Campers live in carpeted cabins with boys their own age, along with two or three counselors. All cabins have ceiling fans, electricity, bathrooms, and personal cubbies. Private shower houses are centrally located. Boys quickly feel right at home, surrounded by their new friends and role models.

Don’t send your kid here—the camp cares more about profit and their reputation than actually caring for your boys. The counselors are lazy, poorly trained and uncaring. It was impossible to reach campers at the given call hours and there were constantly technological issues with no workarounds so that we literally could not reach our camper for days at a time. And many activities listed on their website were not available. This place is an overpriced scam.

This camp is not as advertised. Lots of general camp activities but not the high-end camp it claims to be. Terribly overpriced for what is actually delivered.
Many advertised activities (fencing, martial arts, broadcasting, etc) are missing. Facilities and equipment are run down, and have not been maintained in a long time—not to mention the cabins are outdated and unsanitary. The food is mediocre and repetitive. There is no communication with parents, your emails and your child’s responses will not make it to their addressee’ half of the time.
The camp is pretty disorganized overall, as

My son attended Awosting this summer. He had a terrible experience.
First, my son, 10 yrs old. This was his first time away at camp. On the third day, a counselor called to check in with us on how he was doing, however, everything he said sounded scripted. That my son wasn't eating, and preferred to spend free time alone in the cabin, but that he was "participating and having fun". No doubt they say that to every parent. My son, however, told us in letters and upon returning home that he did not, in fact, have fun. He was bullied by his cabinmates the entire time he was there and made no friends

This camp has been without a doubt the best experience of my life and I could speak for many other counsellors and campers who would say the same thing. If you could bottle everything good about childhood and pour it into one place, this is that place. It lets boys be who they wanna be and they, along with the counsellors, grow every single day. A place where people are open, fun, passionate and creative.. my three years working at Awosting have been phenomenal and I’m hoping to be here for many more. My advice to people looking to work here.. take the jump you will never regret it. My advice
