Excelsior Lumber Company wasn't a lumber company at all when it was originally founded in 1880. It began as a wood wool manufacturer producing a fine grade of excelsior, a material used exclusively in mattresses. In 1880, Benjamin B. Demarest purchased two swathes of land on the bank of the Pequannock River in Butler, New Jersey-about one mile upstream from the Butler railroad station.

Kaslander Lumber was originally founded in Newark as Morbach Lumber by John Morbach. It was here Aren Kaslander began his storied career in the building supplies industry. In the 1950s, Aren began working for Morbach Lumber. Twenty years later, the company's name was officially changed to Kaslander Lumber.

If you are in the market for cabinetry you need to go to Excelsior Kitchens and go see Karin K. She was great from start to finish. We visited Karin as we were completing a home renovation and needed some new kitchen and bath cabinetry. Karin was great to work with from the second we walked in. We was helpful, guided us to great decisions and worked within our budget. We would highly recommend her to anyone in the market for a new kitchen or bath. A huge thanks to Karin for all of her help!

We used this lumber yard when replacing our deck ourselves in 2019. We were doing it on a very slim budget and price was a major factor and Excelsior came in under everywhere else we looked. We placed the order and we were warned by others that lumber yards will just dump the delivery in your driveway so we expected a mess but they came with everything packed nicely on a skid and they used a forklift to place it exactly where we asked which is a big deal because we have a small driveway. The delivery person told us that if any pieces weren't to our liking, just to call them and they'd bring new

We had comparison shopped for cabinets in many showrooms and decided to go with Excelsior. Their cabinet prices were reasonable and ,Siobhan, the designer was knowledgeable and professional. She did a fabulous job designing my kitchen, was patient, easy to work with and took into account my wishlist. She even showed me different design options. When the kitchen was being installed Siobhan was available to take care of my concerns and she made every effort to quickly correct them. Several times she came out to my home to see the progress being made. I had a very good experience with Excelsior Kitchen
