Services
We have always received great reviews for cleanliness and will continue to make it our top priority. When you're on vacation, you've got priorities: there has to be no stress, lots of fun, and plenty of privacy. Think of these rental cabins as handcrafted works of art; ones that provide you with all the comforts of home.
When first building these West Virginia cabin rentals, we picked the most secluded area on the 19 acres and planned carefully for expansion. Cabins 1 was completed in 1997. It's a guest favorite. Cabin 1 is tucked back into the woods. It's a little enclave- sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest from your cozy vacation cabin.
This West Virginia cabin, Over the Hill, sleeps 4 in privacy and comfort. Over The Hill is exactly what a cabin in the woods should be. Over The Hill is situated in the forest on a rock outcropping with a state of the art Hot Tub on the deck in the treetops. That's right. A hot tub in the trees. Cool.
EL Gordo (the phat one) is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath luxury cabin that sleeps 10 with hot tub, fireplace and all the amenities. The name is a play on words. EL GORDO in Spanish is the fat one, my father in-laws nickname is "Gordo" and he has always really liked this location for a cabin. Like the other cabins EL Gordo is tucked into the woods well away from the stresses of every day life.
Welcome to The Ayers House, 402 North Court Street Fayetteville, West Virginia. This is a great Vacation Rental because it is a wonderful Vintage 50's style bungalow and we have restored it beautifully if I do say so my self. We are within easy walking distance to one of Americas Coolest small towns and all the wonderful things that earned Fayetteville WV that distinction.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Cabin was very charming and cozy, clean, and in a superb location to all activities. The little kitchen has everything you could want while on vacation. The hosts were extremely responsive, friendly, and thoughtful. Our pup had a great time too. Would definitely recommend Opossum Creek Retreat to anyone looking to visit the area!

We had an amazing stay at Opossum Creek Retreat! We stayed for 5 nights at the Farm House and loved it! Everything was very clean and it was located 5 minutes from Adventures on the Gorge. It was peaceful and so much of the furniture was custom made from local wood, very charming. We will be back! The New River Gorge is truly an experience and Opossum Creek Retreat made our stay even better!

We spoke to Anna on the phone and she was incredibly understanding and helpful. The Hotels.com booking was a bit misleading in the photos so make sure you read what is listed as amenities on the property you book. However, the experience was so easy that I felt I needed to write a positive note and thank the staff for being so understanding.

Everything you want / need in a retreat/ cabin and super owners / hosts
This is not a corporate exercise, the owners and their team are on site everyday engaging when needed. Cabins are well equipped in the kitchen, nice screened in porch for the jacuzzi, and close to all the action.
Really hospitality and welcoming, a fortunate ‘find’

We stayed in Cabin 4, it was very clean. The cabin had everything we needed. Fully equipped kitchen, roku TV, fireplace and cookies :) We loved the hot tub in the woods. There are lots of hiking trails around. Anna was very helpful. We reached her easily whenever we had a question. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.

(Going through the direct website)- Owners were very responsive. When we booked cabin 1, there were no pictures of cabin one’s bathroom but we were very impressed upon arrival with how well kept and sanitary it was. The owners keep this cabin well maintained and modern. No signs of bugs or other critters considering that it is a cabin in the woods. The directions left by the owners were clear/straightforward and they ensured us that everything was clean, especially the hot tub. For the price, this is a very clean and safe place to stay. My family and I are from Maryland and our experience at

We stayed in Cabin 2, mid May and we loved it. Our family came for my niece's wedding, and also rented a couple other cabins, including the Meadows, which was perfect for all the big gatherings. The places were clean and comfortable, and the service was outstanding and responsive. (Even on a Sunday!) The hot tub was so convenient, and it was nice having a quiet breakfast in the screened-in porch.

Opossum Creek Retreat is a great place. We stayed in cabin #3 which was perfect for our family as it had a double bed on one side near the bathroom and a set of bunk beds on the other for our kids. It is actually smaller than what you imagine from Keith's website's pictures and video but it was fine. Due to the smaller size, it didn't have any room for our clothes or suitcases except for the floor. The internet was adequate for emails and texts, but not so good for videos or movies. (Cell service is sketchy in the area.) But the beds were comfortable, if hot, and Keith did

We have stayed at Opossum Creek over the last 2 Thanksgiving holidays in 2011 and 2012. We plan to stay there again this year :) Being from Florida, we enjoy the change of scenery, the crisp clean air, and the possibility of seeing a little snow!!
Thanksgiving at OCR is quickly becoming a tradition for our large family. Having the option to stay in a well appointed, large cabin for a reasonable price, without all the 'hub bub' and rat race going on around you is a treasure. Finding a place that can house a family of 7 and no one having to sleep on the floor is a real treat for us! We

This is my first yelp review. Full disclosure: I wrote the copy for the opossum creek website.
I stayed at opossum creek for the first time last week. My wife and I got a cabin (#2) for our 10th anniversary.
These cabins are secluded and built with a keen attention to detail. And when I say secluded, I mean that my wife didn't see our cabin (couldn't see our cabin?) until I parked the car. Trees that would have been much easier to cut down grow literally inches from the cabin.
Really enjoyed the screened in porch and hot tub. I sat out there and played mandolin (I'm not bad

Full disclosure: I work with these guys and have been friends with them for many years.
That being said, my reviews would be no different.
I have held meetings in their large cabin, and also held our wedding in the Meadows and would do so again without hesitation.
Great location with attention to detail given to the cabin placement. Surrounded by woods, unique cabins and great service.

First class. the custom craftsmanship utilizing wood harvested and milled on the site was awesome. Loved the cookies - what a treat. Very secluded and romantic surrounded by hemlock and hardwood trees. We enjoyed a stroll on the nature trail and soaking in the hot tub surrounded by trees, birds, and quiet. Great service from friendly staff.

I've stayed in better cabins, but the location of this cabin is really awesome. You're so close to all of the outdoorsy adventures the New River Gorge has to offer. The Farmhouse is nice and great for large groups, but when I stayed there in '06, the plumbing needed work. The smaller, more secluded cottages are perfect for a romantic getaway.
