Peace River Wildlife Center
Peace River Wildlife Center (PRWC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and education center tucked neatly into the mangroves overlooking Charlotte Harbor at Ponce de Leon Park in Punta Gorda Isles, Florida. The Center and our gift shop is open to the public for tours everyday from 11a - 4p and our hospital accepts wildlife intakes from 8a - 5p everyday, 7 days per week, 365 days per year including all holidays.

We do not charge an admission fee but donations are greatly appreciated and needed to support our mission. Your donations and gift store purchases go directly to the care of our wildlife patients and residents. The PRWC does not receive any federal government support. The costs involved in maintaining these educational displays and to feed almost 120 permanent residents and more than 2,500 patient admissions annually is nearly $80,000 per year.
Services
Handling wild animals can be dangerous and they can carry disease and parasites. Always use extreme caution when handling any wildlife, even the smallest creatures can injure you when they are hurt, stressed and scared and may bite. They can also carry and transfer certain diseases and parasites such as mites.
The PRWC is registered with the state of Florida and is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit charitable organization. 100% of your donation will care for our wild animals and the support of our mission. Here are some Words from our Visitors, please leave your own feedback about your visit to our Center. Everytime I go home to visit my mother, I try to go and see Luna and her friends. The best trip was when I visited with my granddaughter. She loved visiting Luna and, of course, she just had to have the stuffed animal from the gift shop! - Ann P.
Rescue & Rehab: Overall, PRWC had a positive outcome for 44% of our patients. A positive outcome includes patients that recovered well enough to be released or were transferred to another facility for continued care. Factoring the circumstance that some patients are dead on arrival, or very nearly so, when we look at the outcome numbers after removing patients that do not survive the first 24 hours of care, our positive outcome increases to 78%.
Be observant, look for animals and their nests before you begin construction, pressure washing, painting, tree removal and trimming, lawn maintenance or yard work. Bats, squirrels, birds, snakes and other creatures will hide or build their nests in trees and under dead palm fronds. Eastern cottontails will make their nests along walkways, fence lines, garden boxes, under shrubs and even in the middle of your yard.

Grateful to have them so close by as I'm always finding animals in need of help. They need to get a net gun though.
