What is it? Collaborative Law is a brand of alternative dispute resolution in which the parties and their lawyers commit to work cooperatively to reach a settlement. Participants focus on the interests of both clients, gather sufficient information to insure that decisions are made with full knowledge, develop a full range of options, and then choose options that best meet the needs of the parties.
Success is defined as a balanced resolution and client-centered approach that works for the whole family. Both spouses learn to work together, laying the groundwork for any post-divorce co-parenting issues to be resolved in the future. Flexibility to customize the final outcome to creatively meet spouses' shared goals and the needs of the children.
Our members adhere to specific rules of conduct and must complete collaborative basic training, attend additional training every two years, and must also become a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Many of our members have websites; we link to their websites and/or to their individual email addresses so that you can obtain additional information (such as their educational background and area of practice) from them directly.Attendees may document the appropriate mediation-related credits that would apply, including credits applicable to family mediation, and list those credits on their certification renewal forms.
These Rules of Conduct are intended to be followed by all members of the Collaborative Professionals of Southwest Florida, including the Pledge of Commitment, both in collaborative cases and in all other aspects of legal practice. 1. Collaborative professionals shall be held to the highest standards of civility, whether in a collaborative or non-collaborative case.
