I wasn't super impressed by the space and left a little disappointed considering the great reviews. The river view is of a creek and the highway. The room we were in felt like we were in the basement with low drop ceilings and a dehumidifier. You could also hear everything from your upstairs and next door neighbors. The "continental breakfast" was of a juice, a yogurt, and a prepackaged blueberry muffin. Given the vaccination rates and the money we spent, they could reopen their dining room.
The room itself was clean & bed was comfortable but the technology could be updated. It was an outdated

Wonderful weekend here. Not one thing bad to say, room was comfy & beautiful view of the river, relaxing to sit & sip your coffee in the morning. Well maintained & clean. There are small grills, and a awesome fire pit that we used to just sit by and relax & roast marshmallows. We met some nice people who joined us at the fire. Staff is friendly. Will absolutely come back.

Have always stayed at Hillwinds in our North Country adventures! It has become our home away from home. We have family in the area and love the hosts. Clean comfortable rooms within reach of many popular attractions. Super Market, fuel, and restaurants within Five to Twenty minute drive. Beautiful back woods setting five minutes from RT 93! Littleton to the North and Lincoln to the south below the Notch. Summer has outdoor pool grills and a beautiful landscaped lawn.

I was a bit anxious about this stay. I always stay at hotels I know but this lodge was affordable and available for our overnight stay in Franconia. It was fantastic. Extremely clean, room smelled clean. Besides that what I loved was the fact that you have grills available to you, there are benches near the river, they have a fire pit you can use, they supply the wood, and there is a good size pool too. They have corn holes, and a volley ball net. The grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained. They provided a light breakfast of muffins, cereal bars, orange juice and fruit cups. My only advise

Thank you Hillwinds for your wonderful staff, clean rooms and beautiful location! Tina was very accommodating to us. We booked several rooms without that much notice. A no frills motel in a great place. All had a great stay. There is a TON to do in the area. A great time will be had by all in this neck of the woods!

This place gets 4.5 stars in my book. Quaint hotel just outside of town. This place has everything you want for a New Hampshire escape. There's a pool, a fire pit, multiple grills and even a volleyball/bad mitten net. The buildings either give you a view of the pool area or of a beautiful little river. The accommodations in the room were homey and we slept like babies on the bed. Unfortunately, when we stayed here, the pool was pretty dirty and needed to be cleaned. But overall, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our weekend stay here.

Came to find Hillwinds Lodge because of the price. Couldn't beat the cost, since we had three people with two queen beds. We were in the area to visit Mt Washington, perfect distance to see even more though. The mountains surrounding Hillwinds are just as beautiful. The river next to our building was a quaint babbling brook that completed the New Hampshire charm. The chairs on the walkway overlooking the river were so nice I wish I could've bought them off of the owners.
The owners were nice to us, and tried to accommodate a last minute request without any gripes. They also answered all

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem after we were stood up from another hotel (Stonybrook). In a quick nutshell, we booked a room with Stonybrook via expedia.com Stonybrook gave away our room, which incidentally was the last room they had. But this isn't about them... this is about the wonderful Hillwinds Lodge and how they saved the day!
Thank God for good hearted people. My husband drove into Hillwinds Lodge and with big hopes and crossed fingers, he went in to see if they had any available rooms - rooms that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Much to our delight, the couple who run

Our king room had a lovely front door view of the creek.
The surrounding landscaping was beautiful and well kept.
A free standing air purifier was running when we arrived, unfortunately it did not mask the musky moldy smell in the room.
The mattress topper on the old mattress was a plus, although the bedding had seen better days.
Our stay was peaceful and quiet as we were the only guests in the creek side building for the night.
The Continental breakfast was very basic.
Yelpers 4.5 star rating lead us here, 2.5 stars based on our room experience.

What a phenomenal PET friendly motel! The prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent. We had a dog and stayed in the pool view building where pets are allowed. The pool was pleasant and my son enjoyed taking a dip. There are trails, EXTENSIVE trails, by the parking lot. The continental breakfast was nice and the view of the river and the hummingbirds was wonderful. There are places to grill and a fire pit! Besides wood, we were provided with sticks and marshmallows! The rooms are neat and our bathroom looked recently renovated. I was pleasantly surprised to see a microwave,
