If you have spent months or years getting tired of hearing yourself talk and nothing changing, you will be pleasantly surprised. I cut to the chase, and show you what you haven't seen. In this way, I help you find out what might be blocking you from what you want. First things first: Learning and growing in a decades long marriage and seeing this stuff work from the inside out has (and continues to be) the best education.
Individual therapy is just that: individual. What YOU need is very much dependent on who you are and your life circumstances. I will work with you by listening. I pay close attention and work directly with you to find what you haven't seen yet. The whole idea is to get a second set of eyes. You need an objective person who's not too close to your life, to weigh in on what might help.
You might be wondering why you would go to a counselor when someone you love dies. In a way, it doesn't make sense. Nobody can bring them back, so it may seem like nobody can help. The thing is, grief can be an incredibly confusing and lonely time in your life. The unbearable pain of wanting to see your loved one is the biggest part, but there is even more.
Reaching out for help when you are going through depression can be one of the smartest things you can do. Feeling better, taking control of your life, living a life you value is so important. Every day you live under the weight of depression can compound the feelings of helplessness and hopelessness.
This term is thrown around a lot, but it boils down to what it means to you. Labels can be problematic. It's not like there is some blood test to verify whether you might be codependent. If you feel like certain tendencies may be getting in the way of your happiness or stopping you from having a healthy relationship, it could be important.

I have worked with Margie for nearly three years at Crossroads Ministry. From comments I have had from others, she is wonderful at counseling others. Kind and compassionate. Numerous times we would sit and talk about life issues, and though I have never been in a session with her due to our working relationship, I can imagine she would be down to earth and very helpful.
