At OPS we can diagnose and treat problems dealing with diseases, injuries and conditions of the musculoskeletal system. This includes the body's muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves. We specialize in giving the highest quality care in general orthopaedics, fracture care, sports medicine/arthroscopy, joint replacement and spine care.
Shoulder replacement when the ball of the joint is replaced with metal and the socket is made of plastic. This surgery replaces the damaged or diseased part of the humerus head, or the 'ball, ' with a metal implant. Often used to repair a labrum tear, the tissue around your shoulder socket. Anchors are placed in the bone that your labrum surrounds, and are stitched up to pull the labrum back into place.
The surgeon uses an arthroscope to examine, identify and correct any issues in the bones, ligaments or tendons of the elbow. A number of repairs may be made based on the issue, such as filing of bone or removal of damaged cartilage. This surgery relieves pressure on the ulnar nerve in your elbow. This is accomplished by moving it to limit compression by the media epicondyle, which is a bony bump found on the inner side of your elbow.
Basal joint arthritis makes it difficult to grip or hold items between the thumb and fingers. With this procedure, the basal joint is removed and rebuilt in order to relieve pain, pressure, and restore the joint's function. This surgery is used to relieve pressure placed on the median nerve that runs through your wrist, which is caused by carpal tunnel syndrome.
In this procedure a herniated disc is removed and a bone plug or graft is inserted into the space where the disc was removed. Frequently a plate and screws will be inserted to stabilize the area until the bone heals uniting the two vertebrae. A treatment for chronic lower back pain, your Physician can reduce the sensitivity in nerve fibers in your spinal discs using heat.
