I give Roy the highest marks. So, I own an S Corp, and have had somewhat disorganized books. I used 3 separate CPA's in years past, before going to Roy. The CPA's all made mistakes - or had bad communication, which cost me fines, and even an audit one year! I then went to Roy, who charged me like half of what my CPA charged. Not only was has he been what you'd expect an accountant to be, but he has also provided me with personal advice, and insight, unlike my past CPA's, whose only advice was keep organized books, own a house, and setup retirement. Roy French saved the day for me on a house purchase. I contacted him on Sat with an emergency issue regarding closing and he squeezed me in that very day. He solved the problem, and accomplished something that H&R Block was not able to do. He was kind and supportive, too. He spotted a way to amend my returns which will save me a lot of money. This was unrelated to the original problem he had fixed. I found him on Yelp, and now will go to him for all of my tax returns in the future. His prices are fair, too.

A helpful and personable accountant: I had to cold call a tax accountant today about a house sale in Richmond and reached Roy French. He could have brushed me off or told me he'd charge me to answer my questions, but he didn't. He listened to my somewhat drawn-out scenario and gave me very helpful answers. (Two other offices told me they'd charge me a $150 or $195 rate for a similar "consultation.") I appreciate the help, especially since I live out of the area and needed someone knowledgeable with both federal and state tax laws. Thank you.

I went to Roy to see if he could help me file an amended return. Instead of talking to me about my taxes, he started asking me personal questions that creeped me out. Then he said he couldn't help me when I asked him to stay on topic about my taxes and that he would charge me way more than I could afford. Afterwards, I went to another tax service preparer and they charged me a reasonable rate to file an amended return and kept the conversation extremely professional. All I can say is that there are alternatives to Roy.

If you can get over meeting your tax preparer in a busy coffee house, you will meet with a knowledgeable gentleman who will prepare your taxes and print them out in one of the most professional tax presentations I ever saw. I think this fine presentation is important in that it suggests authenticity in our tax returns.
