I moved to New York City a year and a half ago and had a horrible experience doing my highlights so I decided to go with darker hair to avoid hair salons. I then ran into Fine Artistik Salon's profile on Instagram and decided to give it a shot because I really do prefer my look with highlights. My hair was a mess between the bad highlights and me trying to dye it at home because of covid-19. Fantastic experience here and super happy with the way my hair turned out! Easy to schedule an appointment. I went for balayage highlights and it was perfect! Usually mmt hair gets brassy and feels like brittle after coloring but Jacob is highly experienced. My hair feels great. I recommend olaplex treatment for everyone. I saw the difference! Since covid-19 began my husband and myself tried to color my hair to keep up with what my previous colorist did using madison reed salon color but it just wan't working. I have very dark brown hair and have started my journey to light blonde with balayage. I went in for 2 appointments over the last 3 weeks and am so pleased with the results. Jacob was so helpful and answered all of my questions patiently and offered solutions on the best way to get my hair light blonde over the course of the next 4-6 months. Fantastic hair salon for balayage highlights with super talented stylist! Small yet modern cozy private salon. Very clean. Jacob is so nice attentive and brilliant. I was there today for hair color correction. He was able to correct my bad balayage highlights and give me the color I wanted. It only took 3 hours. I found Fine Artistik Salon online actually about 3 years ago and have been seeing Jacob ever since to do my hair. I initially found him because my old colorist just didn't care anymore and my hair felt the same every time so I needed someone that would correct my color and adjust the cut. I love the color and highlights Jacob does. He is awesome at working with me to determine a plan for each appointment. I always walk out with hair that is fun and looks great. Jacob gave me my first official balayage highlights and I was really happy with the results! Something that I really appreciated was him being upfront with the process before starting on my hair, so that I knew what hair color I would have. Usually this doesn't happen and I end up with a wrong color or the highlights I didn't ask for.

I want to thank Jacob for giving me a brand new hair and confidence! All of my life I have never done anything big to my hair and a main part of the reason is that I’ve always been scared that if I let other people touch my hair they will ruin my hair. I have been coming to Jacob of Fine Artistik Salon for color, highlights and cut for years and should have written a review long ago. The salon is tucked away on the Upper East Side on a beautiful tree lined block. Jacob is a badass with coloring, highlighting and cutting hair. He always makes my hair look better than it is. I like to ruin my hair with the occasional self-cut, and he fixes those for me and makes them look intentional. My blonde highlights is always bright vibrant and I always get compliments. It is a small salon that totally feels private and it's very beautiful inside. Very light

I am posting a second time, now this is a crime. i found that jacob has just charged my credit card $250 on my american express card out of the blue on may 6th!!!!! i called and left him a message again to call me before i call the police. he told me he was hurt about my post and i told him we need to resolve what he has done. he charged me $479 after quoting me $280 for balayage and blow dry which he did on 3/17. he never called me back and has kept the money and not reimbursed me. he is a criminal!

I showed him a photo as a reference for what I wanted (natural looking blonde highlights on my naturally darker hair). Jacob, however, started what ended up being a bleach blonde processing a few inches from my roots, and then coloring the entire length of my hair (this is NOT balayage!). After blow-drying my hair he asked what I thought. I started to say that it was VERY blonde and was told laughingly

I am a young college student and looked around for days for a place in the city to do a balayage at a decent rate. I found this salon and was pleased with the services offered. I called to double check the pricing and was assured a full head of balayage would run me 220..... I make the appointment and go eager for my new hair. After requesting an appointment, and receiving a prompt follow-up email from the salon with an available slot, I had a chance to read some of the negative feedback here, and I politely responded to the salon that this probably wasn't the best fit after all, based on the reviews.

Had I gone only by the reviews on Yelp, I would have not stepped foot in this place, but having read a variety of other positive reviews from other sites, and liking the content of their Facebook page, I gave it a shot. I'm in NY for a couple weeks of vacation time, and was in desperate need of a cut and updated color. Update: I recieved an email from Jacob earlier today. It was a personal attack that states that I was aware of the prices but had no clue of the products. How dare I give his business a negative review. He could have possibly fixed it.
What's astonishing is that there was no apology offered. If he was aware there were different products that was offered besides what is on the menu, he should have explained that to make it clear.

For me, it's really important that I can manage a cut on my own. I just finished washing/drying my hair for the first time since Jacob cut and colored it. Soooo easy and perfect. Even before this, I was receiving many compliments. Jacob has a talent for finding the right color and applying it in such a way that it grows out looking more natural. It gives you a little more time between color, which is better for your hair and wallet, too.
This was my third visit, but first time getting a cut/style. I'm very happy. My hair looks and feels great!

DO NOT GO HERE. The guy here was so rude that I ended up walking out. He kept telling me how "weird" and "strange" my hair was, and how much work it was going to be to make it look good. I had to ask him four times how much it would cost to do what he what he thought was best to make my hair look good. After completely ignoring me the first three times I asked and restating what a disaster my current hair was, he told me it would be about $500. Instead, I went to IGK, was treated with respect, and given the best cut and color of my life. Even if he were to do an amazing job

I went to Fine Artistik Salon today for the first time. Due to an extreme delay on the train (I am from NJ) I was late for my appointment. I was extremely apologetic and yet was greeted with the same amount of respect as if I arrived on time.
Due to a fallout with a previous hairdresser who left my hair orange with a piecy haircut...I was sure that my hair wasn't able to be salvaged. I was completely wrong!
This place is incredible and definitely worth the trip. My stylist was personable and gave me helpful recommendations. I felt as if I had options and wasn't being controlled
