I got really ill while sitting outside on my porch on the evening of August 14th. I began sweating and vomiting. My husband called 911 and an ambulance from LCMC responded, stabilized me, and asked my husband where do you want me take her. My husband thought that since we live the Westbank that it would be closer. Well when I got dumped off at infamous West Jefferson hospital, I remember laying out in the hallway. I had just had a cardiac pacemaker placed in on August 13.

While I can’t speak on the ER, the clinical care team(nurses, physicians and staff) are awesome. I had a wonderful experience after my surgery. However, the door greeters are becoming ruder by the day. The young ladies gave my mom and friend a hard time while coming to visit me after having major surgery. Why do loved ones have to go through a hassle when trying to visit a family member/friend? This protocol needs to be evaluated because it’s becoming an inconvenience.

Want to thank Lt. Bell and Jonothan Liberto, of the Public Safety Department at West Jefferson Medical Center. I left my valuable computer in the basket behind the wheelchair I was pushing my Aunt in and they found and returned it to me safely. They were so helpful and didn't expect anything in return. Great to know there are honest and caring people in this world.

My grandfather died here and my step-dad. Negative experiences with those for my entire family, negligence would be the word to describe what happened, some refuse to go here because they don't trust the hospital. Though there are some very nice, good nurses and very good people working here, it's not all bad. Maybe it's just managed poorly. Understaffed most likely because it seems there isn't time for attention to detail. The hospital itself is pretty nice though, the cafeteria is really nice, great hot food selection. Parking is never a problem that's nice. Finding where your loved one is can

The one-start rating is for the ER. My mother has been to the ER several times in the last 2 years. There are a few good nurses, however, there are some HORRIBLE nurses that need to be removed. What makes this worse is the lack of cell phone service and ability for family to stay in the ER with loved ones. This opens the opportunity for nurses to abuse and mistreat patients. Even if other nurses or doctors witness or hear of the mistreatment, no one is willing to address it. Going forward, I will either send my mother to a different hospital or sue when she is mistreated again. I am tired of it

I went to the Emergency Room on 7/23/2021.
1)The receptionist asked everyone that entered to remove their mask and wear the hospital mask, I refused to remove my mask and asked if I could wear theirs over mine and it was allowed, but why would anyone ask you to take your protection off knowing that COVID-19 could be lurking next to you.
2)The ER restroom was out of order! WHY? The waiting room was practically full and that was strictly patients because anyone that was accompanied had to either wait outside or leave! Fully understandable, except some of the patients claimed they were waiting over

While I understand that we are in a national crisis, my husband had a stroke yesterday while we were in Mississippi. I asked for him to be transferred to West Jefferson. I have not seen my husband since we left Hancock Hospital yesterday. They have not allowed me to see him or ask the doctors any questions. I was not allowed to tell him goodbye yet, the people behind me (more than one) was allowed to walk right in. I'm losing it not knowing what is happening. No one from the hospital has spoken to me. Absolutely no compassion for family members at this hospital.

I am quite disappointed at the comment made by the claimed medical professional Dr. LINDSEY YORK. My sister took my one year old nephew there today, 06/27/19 due to a few concerns with his stomach virus, he was prescribed medicine. However, the medicine did not have much of an effect on relieving the issue. As she was making an observation, she made a remark: "This child is a walking advertisement of child abuse." My sister was left in awe at what was said. What I am more concerned about is the why behind the comment. The child is NOT malnourished, abused, or isolated away from loved

I had to take my husband to Ochsner ER the other night, with 5 people in waiting room and we were in the back in 15 min.
What is their problem Here???? I am given no stars.

Look up your doctor before any operation.

Anyone can have a different experience in the hospital in which it can host many things, from surgeries, to MD visits, to having babies, and even enjoying the cafeteria. WJMC has maintained their right to be the best hospital on the West Bank since there aren't many others around. I have been here for almost everything and have never had a bad experience thus far. I have had many family members give birth, enjoyed many items prepared in the cafeteria and even had MD visits for check ups or blood work. You will always find workers cleaning the halls or waiting areas. The ER usually stays busy

Overall it is a major facility in the making. They currently have Cerner as their EHR which is severely limiting them in the aspect of documentation. I heard many of the nurses complain that there was no way to back chart and that they had to be 'on time' for all med administration. Sigh and welcome to a subpar EHR.
My baby brother is a patient here and has been for sometime. Over the years he has been an inpatient for various and sundry ailments and continued to choose this hospital when he called an ambulance. I am pleased with the care they provide him and he is most difficult

Probably the worst Hospital, wait is unbelievable. Finally left after waiting three hours and the only thing they did was take blood pressure and made sure that had my insurance. Oh and I love that when you talk to the staff it seems that they are doing me a favor.
Between life and death I would rather die at my house than go there. At least at home I would get better attention from my dog than the hospital staff at this hospital.

It's always strange reviewing something like a hospital. Quite often, hospitals are personal places that people choose because their doctor works there or simply because it's close to home. In the last few months, I had two family members admitted here for two different reasons.
I'm not going to go into vivid detail about our experience with West Jeff. What I will say is that my loved ones ended up here because we were told that this is where they would receive the best treatment, and I didn't always find this to be the case. We've had experience with both West Jeff and

Well I been very blessed that I have not needed to be here in the case of an emergency. I have had two children delivered here without issues and I come here for regular check ups and refills of my crazy pills.
Lotsa parking. Don't even bother with the original parking lot on the street level unless you are really lazy or like circling for hours. Head straight to the parking garage and try and get on the 2nd level. Take the stairs, not elevator and do your thang.
Im happy that there is a place like this close by my home and hope I never need to come here

I usually dread going to the doctors office, but this place wasn't half bad.
The wait time in the lobby wasn't very long at all. Which is really surprising given the fact that most times waiting can take forever. The staff members were very friendly, and knowledgeable. My visit to the hospital went way better than expected. The next time I am in need of medical care I will keep this place open as an option.
In short not a bad hospital at all.

I have been here several times to visit patients in the ER.
Reasons to go:
1) Triage staff actually care. It is like any other ER in the fact that once you step in there, it will be a minimum of 6 hours.

I've had the unfortunate luck of having to visit the ER at West Jeff twice. On both visits, it took an excessively long time to see a doctor. I get that they need to prioritize, but when other hospitals (ie Ochsner) post their ER wait times online and West Jeff doesn't, I have a feeling it's because they KNOW they are slow.

West Jeff is the biggest hospital on the westbank. Located on the well named Medical Center Blvd., West Jeff houses an ER, full service hospital and medical offices. There are even meeting rooms where the occasional public meeting or presentation is held.
The ER is busy. Plan to wait if you aren't critical. Once you get brought to a room you still should plan on a lengthy wait. I don't think the waiting is unique to WJ, but is worth mentioning. On my most recent ER visit, the nurses were friendly and caring. The doctor was no-nonsense and knowledgeable, but not super personable.
