Services
Many of our patients have approached me following their successful weight loss seeking help for reducing the skin laxity that results. There is only so much that exercise and resistance training can do for loose skin and patients are seeking better results. After having referred many patients for traditional plastic surgery, I have often received feedback that it is too expensive, not covered by insurance, painful, and can have a lot of downtime.

I would highly recommend Dr. Abkin & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons in Florham Park. I started my bariatric journey with another surgeon. That surgeon pulled me around for 9 months, never gave me a surgery date, always put the goal post further and further. After 9 months of jumping through hoops, I gave Dr. Abkin’s office a call. I provided him with all of my progress from the previous surgeon, and he was delighted to give me a surgery date. After reviewing my records & meeting with me, he finally gave me a surgery date which I had long awaited.

Had to create a new profile to update my review...
9 months later...still no communication from the office. Received an EOB yesterday that the claim was correctly submitted and paid on 9/16. You would think this would prompt an apology from the office or billing rep that could have avoided this last year and an eager attempt to schedule my missed appointment ..but no. I have also been mysteriously removed and blocked from the online support group. Nice. Again...seems retaliatory and petulant. Thank goodness the hospital has their own group. Make sure to join that one. Still hoping for the office

I had gastric bypass surgery in 2011 with a different surgeon/practice, unfortunately I regained almost all the the weight I’ve had lost. When I reached out I was told they do not accept my new insurance and I was out of luck... after much research for revision surgery and a few consultations I found the office of Dr. Jawed. They didn’t turn me away, like others did (because the original surgery was with a different surgeon). They welcomed me with open arms. I had gastric sleeve surgery performed with Dr Abkin 3 years ago and today I went to visit with him for my 3 year check up. I have lost a total of 103 pounds since I first went for my initial consultation with Dr Abkin. I no longer take any medications except vitamins as required. Dr Abkin is a wonderful doctor and person. Very caring and patient and listens to your concerns and answers all your questions. He literally has changed my life. I met Dr. Jawed about a little over two years ago. From day one when he introduced himself I felt an assurance about him. We discussed sleeve surgery and he was very pleasant and not business as usual. The good doctor performed sleeve surgery on me March 2019, I was at 314lbs. It was a great success! It is now July 4th, 2020, I now weigh an amazing 174lbs! I feel great my health is phenomenal. This this whole time of the process Dr. Jawed team walks you through every step of the way!

Dr. Jawed and Dr. Abkin are so helpful and caring. I went in for a consult for revision/repair of my rny gastric bypass and Dr. Jawed actually listened to me. He took into account all my symptoms and sent me right in for testing and scheduled me for surgery within weeks of our first meeting. I ended up being pregnant the first go and had to wait until my baby boy came but as soon as I was ready he rescheduled my surgery and I was good to go. Thank you to the staff and doctors. this was a wonderful experience and I am so glad I found you.

I met with Dr. Jawed in October 2019 to discuss having the VSG surgery. From day one, Dr. Jawed listened thoughtfully to me and my concerns and he was excellent with answering my questions. He treated me like a person and not just another obese patient some doctors make you feel like. After the first visit, I knew 100% he’s who I wanted to operate on me. His office arranged all of the visits I needed and did all of the insurance paperwork; all I needed to do was show up to the appointments. I’m currently six months post op and down 72lbs and could not be happier with my decision and choice

My experience was mostly with Dr. Abkin, although Dr. Jawed performed my Endoscopy and he was lovely, as he put me at ease because I was so nervous. Dr. Abkin was amazing from my consult appointment to surgery day. Not only is he highly skilled, he has a great disposition and welcomes questions from his patients. Plus he loves a good joke, which put me at ease on the big day. 😉 The support staff is great as well. I would absolutely not hesitate recommendIng this practice to anyone. You will be in excellent hands!

Dr. Abkin is amazing! Super nice and takes his time to explain everything. I had gastric bypass in August and have had zero issues and I feel great. Dr. Abkin is the only doctor I saw. My mom came with me to the appointment and we fell in love with him. Didn’t feel the need to see anyone else. Dr. Jawed did my pre-surgery endoscopy and he is fantastic, as well! The office staff has also been great since day one. Very friendly and patient.

It is not an easy thing to ask for help, especially when it comes to being morbidly obese and thinking you will never be able lose the weight, but I woke up one day realizing if I didn't do something soon my life would end premature.
