Established in 1993 by Dr. Robert Gemmell, Distinctive Dentistry has been caring for the residents of Eugene, OR, and the surrounding areas for over 25 years. Dr. Gemmell received his DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, and is a current member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Oregon Dental Association and the American Dental Association.His understanding of current dental techniques is evidence of his focus on continuing education, especially those techniques that greatly increase patient comfort.

At every dental hygiene visit we examine all of the tissues in the mouth. That includes areas such as the jaw, tongue, lips, cheeks, and gums. Many patients are surprised at how much surface area we cover during these dental examinations. It is vital that patients have regular oral cancer and soft tissue screenings as part of their oral hygiene plan.
As recommended by the American Dental Association, visiting the dentist at least every six months is a great way to ensure you keep your smile healthy and free from disease and decay. But the real work happens behind the scenes, at home! Maintaining a healthy smile depends significantly on what is done at home between dental appointments.

Dr. Gemmell and his team are a great asset to the community. Every staff member I have encountered is friendly, informative and patient. I have some anxiety around dentists due to previous experiences and after explaining this it really felt like Dr. Gemmell made it his mission to thoroughly explain my treatment plan and every step. Additionally, I felt that he took extra care every step of the treatment to ensure that I felt calm, comfortable and pain free. My appointment at Distinctive Dentistry today was great. I was able to be seen for a broken tooth in less than 24 hours as a new patient! Dr. Gemmel, his hygienist, and office staff we're very experienced and informative. They quickly and painlessly assessed my needs and put together a plan for treatment. I'm happy I chose this dentist office and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist in area!
