It depends on the type of bankruptcy you would like to file. Chapter 7 requires eight years to have passed, and Chapter 13 requires six years to have passed. If you didn't receive a discharge in the previous case, then you are able to file at any time. Depending on the type of bankruptcy filed, the ex-spouse may be able to drag you back into the debt dispute.

Mr. Johnson's office staff is FABULOUS. Mr. Johnson - well, he's a lawyer. He doesn't sugar-coat anything, but he does get the job done. It's not his fault that we were in the mess we were in. I hope I never have to use him again, but I won't hesitate to recommend him to others in a pickle.

We were really in a mess. I called around to some of these "no money down" places and was shocked to find out that although they didn't charge fees up front, they were charging me almost double the price to work with me on payments after the case was filed. I felt like they were really a trap taking advantage of my crappy situation. I talked to Brian and he was able to file my case for hardly anything anyway and didn't take advantage of me. The fees were reasonable and I felt like I finally had someone on my team. The staff has been great and I am done with my bankruptcy and working on getting
