I was recently planning a sprinkle with Nicole, the party coordinator at Galo. I originally booked the big, beautiful room and guaranteed 40 guests. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we canceled and they were really accommodating. I then switched to the smaller room and guaranteed 15-20 people, which they so graciously accepted and worked with me to change my menu and seating around so it fit within our budget. In the end, after more Covid concerns, we canceled our party altogether and brought it home. Nicole and the manager were so understanding, easy to talk to and completely accommodating

For a Brazilian steakhouse I was very disappointed. I ordered a cowboy steak for a pretty penny and the steak was unfortunately 70-75% fat. It was replaced for a New York strip which had no flavor and left me hanging on how I felt about the restaurant overall. I would put 1 star but the waitress was so pleasant and helped me in every way. The mac and cheese was greasy and the steak clearly wasn't aged as they said it was. Absolutely no flavor.

The crabcake Caesar salad here is *chef's kiss*. It was so good that the next time my friend and I came here, we ordered the exact same thing to split. The service here is always friendly and the complimentary bread is always delicious. I tried their brunch deal which is such a good price! On sunday, for $24, you get some bread/pastries, a meal, and complimentary drinks. I didn't really come to drink that day, so I can't attest to how it is if you wanted a bottomless sort of brunch, but the sangria I had was refreshing and the french toast hit the sweet spot. We went here for brunch for the holidays. Food portion was good & delicious.
The huevos rancheros turned out be a little oily
- but could be because we don’t usually eat oily
Foods at home. I would request to tweak the dish with less oil! Otherwise it was delicious.

Came here for the first time tonight with my husband for happy hour and we were definitely cutting it close because we didn't realize it ended at 6 instead of 7, but we were treated really well by our bartender Rachel. She was very attentive, the apps and drinks she recommended were great, and we can't wait to come back! If you're in the neighborhood, come by for a great cosmo or delicious Sangria!

Great bacon Mac & Cheese and if you are willing to spend the extra $$, go for the lobster in addition to the bacon (your cholesterol will go through the roof, but you will die a happy person). This was our 1st time here. Host was very courteous and sat us right away. Our waitress Rachelle Maria was super attentive. When taking our order she ensured we received our choices correctly. The food was delicious, we tried the lentil soup, calamari, clams, sautéed shrimp, 20 Oz Cowboy Bone in Ribeye Steak, Mashed Potatoes and chocolate souffle for dessert with cappuccino. Everything was served hot and everything was tasty. Added touch was the homemade Buns with butter. 😋 We will definitely be back. 💯💯💯

Jennifer the bartender was so helpful and able to help me with missing items and replaced it right away did not give me a hard time my wife pick it up on her way home thank you great service sorry no food pics quality service and food is very good especially my daily job is QUALITY ASSURANCE.. thank you

Disappointing... I picked this place based on the fairly good reviews recently.
I ordered via UberEats, the grilled skirt steak (cooked medium) with mashed potatoes, beans and a slice of chocolate temptation cake.
I'm eating my third piece and I take a bite, the steak is literally RAW on the inside!
I took the remainder of the steak and threw it all on the stove and cooked it so it was edible.

I went here with a big group that took us last minute. We had our own little section and we felt very safe with covid19. They took our temperatures and everyone had masks on. The street parking is pretty good for Queens. The bread they give you in the beginning is so tasty. The restaurant is spacious which is perfect for social distancing. I ordered the grilled basil chicken sandwich which was good. All the sandwiches on the menu were fantastic. The service was good and the place had a great atmosphere. It is a little pricey for the area but I think that is due to Covid. I would definitely return

It's a nice Portuguese cuisine restaurant. Food is great, many delicious food and cocktails to choose from. Friendly staff, clean,follows Covid protocols. Lived in the neighborhood for a long time, never ate here. Street parking,a little pricy,no waiting. Overall a was good experienced dining with the family. I found a new place to go, highly recommended. We'll definitely will come back.

While visiting family and friends on Long Island, I met with my sister and her fiancee and we decided to try a different restaurant. We drove to the New Hyde Park area to check out Galo Tavern 18; it was one of the few places where we were able to make a last-minute reservation (can be done on opentable). We were greeted by the owner at the main entrance and were seated after we had our temperatures taken, which was fairly quick. The owner was welcoming and kind - he is doing his best to keep the business afloat during the pandemic.

I had three different experiences of Galo Tavern. The first was the happy hour version where I took advantage of the shrimp tempura (not pictured) deal. The shrimp tempura was impressively good given that it's not a Japanese spot and the chef is not Asian. I recommend ordering the shrimp tempura especially during happy hour.
Second experience was Moscow Mule Day, which was over two months ago. The cocktail was deceivingly strong and the two tasty Kobe beef sliders did not do much to help. The Kobe Beef sliders are also part of their happy hour discount, but I prefer the shrimp tempura.

This is my first time here an I can honestly say the food here is amazing. Our server was amazing and very attentive to all of our needs. The cocktails here are very strong so probably one drink with your meal will be fine. The meals in the picture are crab cakes for appetizers. For the entree it is tavern Mac & cheese with turkey bacon and fish and chips. Everything was delicious I would definitely come back. The fish is fresh the crab was amazing and the Mac was nice and creamy. It was definitely worth the trip here.
