Whether you're an adult or a teen, we all want to look our best at all times. Changing the way your teeth are structured takes time and there are now ways to keep you looking your best during this period. Clear braces or ceramic braces are translucent. This new technology is available for most cases.
Traditional braces have been around for many years. They are the standard among patients looking to straighten their smile. Today's contemporary braces are made of exceptionally strong metals as they need to be able to stand the test of time while they are on your teeth. While contemporary braces are metallic colored, there are a number of bands and features that can be utilized to spruce them up.
Many people are afflicted with bruxism, or teeth grinding. Some people may do this consciously during the day, but it is a larger problem at night while you are asleep. Grinding your teeth can damage enamel, wear down teeth, cause jaw pain, or irritate your gums. The noise from teeth grinding can also disturb your spouse's sleep if loud enough.
Palatal expanders are frequently used in orthodontic therapy to treat a narrow palate. Palatal expanders come in two types; fixed and removable. The fixed expanders can be used to achieve rapid palatal orthopedic expansion on a child and a slower more limited dental expansion on an older teenage or an adult in many cases.

I came to Dr. Segal for my second round of braces after a bad experience at a different office 7 years ago. Thanks to Dr. Segal and his eye for detail, I finally have the smile of my dreams. He always takes his time and explains what he is doing and I always feel comfortable there. You will never find a staff as friendly and accommodating. They always work around my busy schedule and he even came to the office on his day off once to have me in since I go away for college and come in between breaks. I would definitely recommend Stony brook Orthodontics to anyone looking to improve their smile!

Agree with all the other reviews - he's the best, and a perfectionist. I came to him with quite a challenge as an adult, and he met all my expectations. He is gentle, concerned, professional, and produces a great outcome! You will be very happy. Also, an important factor for me when choosing a provider, is that his office staff and assistants are fantastic as well. They are all pleasant and scheduling with Traci is a breeze. Billing is accurate, as well as correspondence with insurance - that's another issue for me.

Dr. Segal is the greatest orthodontist! He is such a perfectionist, and willing to go above and beyond to make his patients teeth look their best. He is always ready for appointments at the times they’re scheduled for. And Traci is absolutely wonderful! She took care of everything with our Insurance, is always so helpful and so nice! I have recommended Stony Brook Orthodontics to all my friends whose children need braces, and they think they’re awesome also!

I absolutely adore every person in this office. My daughter has autism and Dr.Segal and his staff are hands down the nicest, most passionate, patient people ever. Amazing Practice. Accepts NYPD insurance. Dr. Segal is a true master of his craft and takes the time to explain his treatment in depth.
