Les Madeleines
Our pice de rsistance is the beloved Kouign Amann, a rich buttery pastry from Brittany, France that was named 2012 Pastry of the Year by Food & Wine. Try it once and you'll find yourself craving it again and again. If you're craving something savory we serve breakfast daily and offer a few grab and go options for lunch. If you're looking for something on the lighter side, try our Sesame Chicken Salad. Pair your preferred delicacy with a nitro cold brew or cappuccino for the perfect break in your day.
Services
During the winter of 2003 Les Madeleines opened shop on State Street to the pastry lovers of Salt Lake City; capturing the attention of food lovers from all over Utah and many other far-flung destinations ever since. Although not an exclusive cupcakery, Les Madeleines was the first to offer a variety of unique, gourmet cupcake flavors and French macarons in the Utah area.
Whether you order inside or online we're offering as many items as possible, but please note lunch items are still limited. As things evolve, look for us to be adding more items back to the lunch menu. Our food preparation and staffing are set up to comply with safe food handling (as usual) and with current restrictions for safe distancing.
What sets Les Madeleines apart is our unique spin on the classics - some familiar, others less so. We strive to bring a taste of the world to your palate through traditional pastry flavors and we enjoy infusing old favorites with slightly more unusual flavors, like jasmine, rose and sesame. Each personalized portion is an artful offering.

We love Les Madeleines and it has been a treat to stop by whenever we visit Salt Lake City from the Bay Area. Unfortunately, we had an unfriendly/rude male personnel who doesn't seem to care much to serve us. He ruined our experience with the shop.

Plenty of types of goodies here for breakfast. My sister, took me here right after i landed at the airport for some breakfast. To my surprise this little bakery has been reviewed extensively by major TV networks and Oprah for their kougin aman, so of course we've gotta get some of those. So here's what were ordered.

- Canelé - one of the best i've had, great crunch all around on the outside, soft custard inside. must try
- Breakfast sandwich - very good, served on a homemade english muffin
- Kougin Aman - these were still warm when we stopped by around 9:15am
- A couple drip

This place is overpriced and the food is mediocre at best. Also, you get the added benefit of waiting outside if there are three people inside. Go to somewhere else.

I've been meaning to try Les Madeleines for so long and can't believe I never did when I lived downtown. I think it is now my favorite bakery in SLC. The plan was to get a Kouign Amann (because you can't come here and not..), but of course ended up getting quite a few more things - the ham and cheese croissant, pain au chocolat, and passion puff. Everything was amazing, but my favorites were the Kouign Amann (duh) and passion puff, which I think are two of their best-sellers, so no surprise there. They were even good the next day after popping it into the toaster oven for a few minutes

I was introduced to this place by my sister. She raved about the Kouign Amann, but I couldn't believe it was as good as she said until I tried it. Now I am addicted. If I don't have any trips to Salt Lake City planned, I get them delivered by Gold Belly to keep me going.

I absolutely love this place. It is the first place I head after landing at SLC.

Every time I walk by here I have to get the Kouign amann. SO good. It's a must try from me. Everything they have is baked fresh and it's never too busy in the store, so no long waits! Plus they give you a cute little take out box if you bring any goodies home

TL;DR: exquisite, high quality pastry

I did not expect Salt Lake to have so much to offer when it comes to kouign amann but boy am I glad to be wrong! Les Madeleines' versions are glorious - I especially recommend the Mount Tam kouign amann if you can find it. Something about the funky cheese and the rich, sweet, flaky pastry is just magical. These aren't cheap but definitely worth it when you are looking for a treat. Croissants and shortbread cookies are also great but if you only get one thing, can't go wrong with the kouign amann.

What a great French bakery in the heart of SLC! We stopped in for lunch after a full morning of hiking. The ham and cheese croissant and the turkey avocado sandwich (with the most delicious bread) hit the spot. For dessert, we got the whoopie pie (cream filling sandwiched between two soft cookies). While traditionally whoopie pies are chocolate, this one was carrot cake flavored. It was perfection. Side note: My favorite treat ever at Disney World was the carrot cake whoopie pie at Hollywood Studios -- this dessert no longer exists there and I had never seen ti anywhere else, in or out of

Terribly rude and condescending staff. After getting my order wrong, a second time, the man who seemed to be in charge told, rolled his eyes and gasped something under his breath, thinking I wouldn't hear as he hid behind his mask.

You may have good pastries and decent kouign amann but you've got nothing when you mistreat your customers.

Gone are the days of their super friendly and delightful staff.

Love the Kouign Amanns here! Still don't having indoor dining, masks are still required but when you're nearby it's worth dropping in for this dessert alone, although they do seem to be shrinking in size over time. I'd prefer they just raise the price, but they didn't ask for my consent . The other pastries I've tried there are good too, but this one is my favorite. I'll be happy when they bring their full menu back so I can pop in and grab lunch sometime.

There is no better kouing aman in Utah! I've tried Gourmandise, I've tried Cupola Coffee, and no one has as many thin and flaky layers as Les Madeleines! They carry so many beautiful pastries, salads, and sandwiches. They offer local artisans chocolates as well! Grab a latte and a kouing aman, you'll be addicted and you can help your friends and family discover this crunchy, sweet and gooey decadent treat.
Thank me later!

Fresh and delicious with smells that reminded me of San Fran and NYC in the morning.

Great friendly fast customer service and loved the options presented.

Hope my photo shows up soon as Yelp no longer shows photos while writing a review and if you are lucky once it is posted they will magically appear!

Can't wait to come back to this place at get the kouign-amann (pronounced "queen a-mahn")

Met up with a fellow Yelper to see what kinds of offerings that Les Madeleines had. I was pleasantly surprised! I ended up ordering 3 pastries and some of those artisan chocolates. The chocolates were pretty pricey at 12.00 for 6 pieces, but it was good. It reminded me of the chocolates I had at a Washington DC restaurant called The Conch. Always, there were some pretty good flavors worth nothing, like the salted caramel one and the lemon flavored one. Sadly, I ate them before I remembered to take a picture.

I really liked all the pastries that I got as well. There was a coconut log thing that

Small little bakery filled with lots of yummy treats. If you are looking for treats to go with your coffee or tea, this is the spot, but come early becausethey sell out. Breads are moist and soft, croissants are crispy and flaky, not the biggest fan of crispy croissants. Staff was extremely friendly, I would come back just for them.

I have driven past Les Madeleines for years and have never stopped in, despite my intentions. I finally made it a priority and visited recently. I had high expectations, from lots of other people's comments or reviews. Unfortunately, I think I might have gone on a bad day.

When I arrived, I saw that there was a line outside and a sign on the door limiting customers to four in the lobby. Totally understandable with COVID, no biggie. But as I hopped in line and watched through the window, I saw that I'd be here awhile. The staff moved very slowly, despite seeing people queued up in the

Ok, so I found out I'm not a of croissant sorta treats. Call me crazy. This place wasn't for me particularly.

They were all out of their famous Kougn amann, so I was sad about that. So I bought two other things.

I really liked the lemon treat, which is rare for me too, but boy oh boy it was yummy. The chocolate had a fried banana in it was good too.

OMG, their pastries are to die for!

A got a mini brunch, which consisted of a mini croissant, a mini pain au chocolat, a mini cinnamon scone, and a Madeleine.

Everything was delicious... even my son liked everything, and he's extremely picky.

We'll definitely be back!

I was disappointed with Les Madeleines. I hear lots of great reviews of this place, and was stoked to come here for a sweet treat! The prices of the pastries seemed a little high and the display box was very empty. The lunch rush must've beat me to all the great stuff, or maybe because they were closing in an hour.

I ordered their tiramisu and did not like it at all. Unfortunately, it lacked the coffee flavor and there were no lady fingers!!!! There were some rice crispy toppings but if these were substituted for lady fingers, they can do better than this. They charge $6.00 for. Tiny tiny

Adorable little cafe. We loved looking at the items they have on display (like a mini charcuterie board! So cute!) as well.

The chocolate crinkle cookie and the lemon tart were our favorites by far. They had such good, rich flavors. And the presentation of the lemon tart was beautiful with the "flower" meringue!

The coconut tart was not our favorite. The crust was too hard and the flavor was too subtle. It seemed like there was no sugar In the cream on top.

Delicious and soft macaroons, and the chocolate croissants were so tasty, as well as the cinnamon scone and chocolate Madeline

I have so much love for this place! It's my Friday breakfast spot and I hate to miss. First the location is so cute and charming. Unfortunately it's only grab and go now but I love hanging out there is days past. They have patio seating so that's still an option. They are dog friendly! The owner came out and chatted with me and was so kind to my dog-super likable lady!

I don't even know where to start with the food or parties. Their breakfast sandwich, the mad man stands no chance against any other. And believe you me, my mouth has tried. Famous for their Kouign you must try
