Originally from a working-class town outside of Manchester in the North of England, David was never satisfied with the ordinary. Inspired by a Modernist ethos, David began getting his own suits custom made for himself as a teenager. As a young Graphic Arts student in Leeds, David was quickly swept up by the world of fine tailoring joining the Savile Row house Gieves & Hawkes at the age of 19.
Over the next 11 years David stayed in the business making his way up in the world of tailoring and fashion. He worked for many influential names in the UK and U.S.A such as Richard James of Savile Row, Prada, Commes Des Garcons and Timothy Everest.

Services
Our suits are all hand-cut and bench-made with over 3000 hand stitches. Full-floating chest canvas, hand padded lapels and hand stitched buttonholes are standard. A Reeves suit requires at least 40 hours of skilled local labor to produce. Every client has a paper pattern made and stored for them. These unique patterns are what separate a true Bespoke suit from a made-to-measure garment.
A Reeves Dinner Suit hearkens back to a time when looking good seemed so easy. Nowhere is Reeves' beautiful tailoring on display more than in the clean lines of a classic dinner suit. Simplicity should never be confused for boring. From a sharp black barathea, to stunning Jade and Diamond laced fabrics, no project is too small or too lavish.

The Reeves office and workshop are located at 41 Union Square West. Conveniently accessible via car or public transportation, we are just across the street from the Union Square 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q and R lines and a short walk from the 6th Ave and 14th street 1, 2, F, and M lines. For a first time client, the entire bespoke process will take 2-6 months.

All I can say is Dave's suits are pure perfection! There is not a thread that is off, and the suit and topcoat I ordered fits me like a glove while providing such mobility I had not known was possible in a suit. I've tried a few other "custom" suiting places before, and was never happy because they would always make excuses as to why something was okay the way it was or why it was a certain way - a complete waste of money and many gray hairs. Dave is a consummate professional. His advice was spot on and very helpful. He worked on a tight timeline to put together a classic navy suit for my wedding. As you might expect, that meant lots of pressure on Dave, but he handled it well. Indeed, for my basted fitting, he was taken ill with the flu and obviously had to postpone it, but when he recovered he came to Washington just to see me and check the first fitting. Ok, I may have an addiction. But my fifth Reeves suit and second overcoat have just arrived. The new three piece suit is a bulletproof English dark navy cloth and is cut to perfection. David scored some of the last material in this weight. He also had an amazing range of heavy tweeds for overcoats this year, and it arrived in time for this fall weather. I have always wanted to get a bespoke suit made since I got into suits, and as a wedding gift to myself I decided to pull the trigger. When it comes to suits everyone knows the end all be all in menswear is Savile Row , but being in the US this just wasn't a logical choice. I am a repeat client of David Reeves. First when you meet him he is unquestionably English. So I've checked out all the top tailors in NYC and only very few are the best in bespoke suits. David Reeves is definitely one of the best and is obsessed about quality, and his service is unparalleled. He only makes the best so don't ask him about made to measure. He makes top suits only. I had only ever bought off the rack suits before coming to David but he patiently walked me through the entire process and stopped to answer any questions I had. NYC has a wealth of options but navigating the world of bespoke suits is more challenging here than in London for example. David makes a true bespoke suit meaning the pattern is cut for you specifically, and every detail is with you in mind, the suits are also handmade with details you cannot find on RTW(this shouldnt even been considered) or the latest MTM programs which claim a bespoke experience but that is as far as they go. I took a look at suits friends have had made, and met a few NYC tailors

The short version: David is a real-deal master, and amply earns every dollar you spend with him. If you're on the fence about whether or not to buy a bespoke suit at all, his work is jaw-droppingly worth it. If you're choosing between tailors, David will give you a level of attention and care that exceeds any I've worked with.

Purchased two made to measure suits. Fabric, detail, construction, and client service were all excellent. David is very knowledgeable about what he does and has exceeded expectations with me. The entire process took about a month. I needed the suits to be ready for my wedding after the second or third fitting. David understood the sense of urgency and overnights the suits after fixing little details.

I've been working with David for almost a year and have nothing but great things to say about him. I've ordered several different pieces of clothing that have all turned out great. My second, high end 3-piece suit from David is of even better fit and quality than the MTM he had made for me. He can get the vest piece down perfectly, which I still think he has an eye for proportions. I am still impressed at how attentive he is when it comes down to the details and the customer service. You certainly get the full value of what you pay for with David.
My only quirk, which is not related to David's service, is that the suitmaker he uses tends to add an odd flair to the "female" suit rather than keeping it to the standard male suiting than I would have preferred

I found David after conducting extensive research on NYC tailors, looking to move beyond the impersonal made-to-measure workshops that have popped up around the city. His prices were competitive, and I worked with him to create a custom tuxedo blazer for my wedding.
