When you catch a beautiful day in Cape May, don't hesitate to walk along the water down to The Mad Batter for breakfast!
Now of course everything tastes better when you're in love, and even better when you're in love in Cape May... But combine that with a morning chow down at The Mad Batter??? Well then...you may just have entered heaven!
Don't be intimidated by the crowd waiting to go in, they move people fast as it is an enormous place. Also, if you're a couple you'll be seated quicker so consider spitting up your group if time is important.

This is a cute little place to eat at! The menu is unique in that there are basics like sandwiches and then a nice heart supper like steaks, seafood, and pasta. We sat on the porch and it was wonderful. A smidge chilly but surprisingly not as cold as expected with all the windows open. The service was great and food delicious. There was specials for supper (soup and plates option). There were two menus for drinks - so something for everyone! The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the appetizer menu was small - but we ended up with bread and soup and that quickly satisfied us. There

Always the best. My only issue was that I liked everything on the menu and it takes time to decide. The server, Sue, was attentive even when my Mom called and I had to take the call (she's 91). I got the Lobster omelette over my usual Chesapeake Eggs Benedict. Excellent service, decor, and of course food.

We have been coming to Cape May for years, and despite recommendations from multiple people had never tried The Mad Batter until today. My only regret is that we waited this long. The food was excellent. I had the Chesapeake Bay Benedict, and my husband had the French toast. Also topped my meal off with a Bloody Mary, which was perfect. The waitstaff were all helpful, polite, and friendly. We only waited 25 minutes for a table. I wish more people would not post negative reviews after one bad experience. Please just go and try this restaurant for yourselves and don't be discouraged by the negativity

I already had this place down on my Trip Advisor list of places to go while I’m visiting Cape May. Then a random person, standing behind me at the UPS shipping center in Yorktown, NY, suggested it to me too, and I’m glad I went! FINALLY!!! A restaurant that cook Macaroni and Cheese with eggs! We were seated on the open aired porch in the front. Really nice decor and ambiance. Friendly staff and the food was great! I got two more days in Cape May and I’ll be visiting again to get the Seafood Risotto! So so good! That’s the only dish I didn’t snap a picture of before my friend ate her plate

Such a delicious breakfast! We were seated within a few minutes of arriving on a Friday morning on the off season. Had the gluten free pancakes and let me say, they were delicious! The latte was dreamy, and just picture perfect. Husband had the hitter milk pancakes with a side of eggs. Make this a stop on your trip to Cape May!

Since we were on vacation in Cape May, we happened to stay in the hotel upstairs from "MAD MATTER", and the hotel gave each guest a $15 breakfast coupon per day.
The most important thing is that the tempting taste is great .when I walk through the restaurant every day.
We enjoyed brunch. Famous for bloody mary and mimosa in freshly squeezed orange juice!
