Welcome to Solano Oriental Rug Gallery, providing quality hand-made rugs and service to the Bay Area for over 30 years. Our gallery is located on Solano Avenue in Berkeley, California. Our inventory has grown with our store and consists of thousands of hand-made rugs of Middle Eastern, Oriental, and American Indian origin.
Oriental rugs need to be cleaned regularly to maintain their beauty and charm. Proper cleaning enables them to last a lifetime. Our family has been in the business for generations, and we take pride in the professional care we give each and every rug during our hand-cleaning and restoration process.
Even rugs used as wall hangings need cleaning once in a while to keep the wool from drying out and becoming brittle. If your rug has stains from pets, wine, ink, or the like, tell your professional cleaner about them. We can remove many such stains if we know what caused them. If a needed repair is neglected, it is likely to worsen, making it more costly in the long run.

Iraj (the owner) is a wealth of knowledge on carpets and other forms of weaving and fascinating to talk with. We had 2 carpets repaired and cleaned and the difference is amazing. The repairs on one 150+ year old carpet required three tears to be stitched back together, wool dyed to match the original carpet and then woven back into the carpet as well as the end knots repaired and sides cords to be repaired/replaced. They came out beautifully and you'd never know there were tears in the carpet. The cleaning really brought the piece back to life. The other carpet was ~50 years old, much

I would like to give a special shout-out to Iraj of Solano Oriental Rug Gallery for the very professional way he handled our problem. There was a misunderstanding about a pad we purchased for our oriental rug, and we were very unhappy with our situation. He was quick to fix the problem to our satisfaction, stating that making us happy was his first priority. The true measure of a successful business is the high level of customer service it metes out. Beautiful selection of new and antique rugs. Owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I felt a little pushed to spend more than I was comfortable with on a rug I brought in to be cleaned and repaired, but I would still return to shop there. Did some research on cleaning costs in advance and their prices seemed fair. My Afghan Khal rug was lustrous and like new when I returned.

I found out that one of my rugs that I inherited was over 100 years old and an excellent rug. I had no idea! Mr. Vafeenia is very kind and truly loves sharing his extensive knowledge of oriental carpets. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this family business!

Great Family owned business! The owner Iraj is a wonderful Gentlemen. Amazing how he remembers his customers and speaks with them on a personal level but still maintains a business sense.
The owner is also quite informative and knowledgeable of his inventory and always willing to make a deal.
DEFINITELY the place to go in the Bay Area for a great selection on priceless rugs for your home or office. (We have them in both. LoL)
We have also had numerous rugs repaired and a few restored to which all have come back home good as new and with no complaints.
