Located in the northwest region of New Jersey's beautiful highlands, Johnsonburg Camp and Retreat Center is a place where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds are welcomed to experience God in a serene environment. Since 1959, our staff and facilities have served thousands of people each year with warm hospitality for recreation, faith formation, meetings, and/or teambuilding.

Serving all individuals, organizations and groups, Johnsonburg is the perfect place for your next event. When the Synod of New Jersey made the commitment to open a dedicated space for children and youth to grow in their faith in God's creation 60 years ago, it was clear that the impact of time away is life-changing.
Services
In 1959, Johnsonburg Camp & Retreat Center was established to provide experiential Christian education in support of the Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. Johnsonburg today is a place where city kids meet country kids, where black and white discover common ground, where the rich and poor of means and spirit are valued equally, and where each is encouraged to take another vital step toward realizing oneness in Christ.
Elise enjoys all aspects of God's ministry in the outdoors, but her passions include leadership development, nature exploration, wilderness trips and sustainable architectural design. This has grown out of a lifetime (almost!) of living and working at Presbyterian camps in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Michigan and Minnesota.
Successful camp/retreat center located one hour west of NYC has immediate opening for an experienced individual to join the leadership team! Ideal candidate will be team-oriented, a strong communicator, service-oriented, and have previous camp management experience. This position will oversee the hospitality teams of dining services, facilities and housekeeping, and the business office, and "set the table" for a memorable guest experience!
Johnsonburg provides, 1, 2 and 3 week summer camp programs for children, youth and families. Campers live in cabins, tents and lodges with campers of similar ages. Our main focus is on forming and living in community.

Campers participate in camp activities including: archery, arts and crafts, bible study, boating, canoeing, challenge course, climbing wall, gaga ball, games, gardening, giant swing, high ropes, hiking, nature exploration, outdoor cooking, outdoor living skills, stand up paddle boarding, singing, swimming - lake and pool and worship.
Traveling Daycamp is a week-long partnership between congregations and Johnsonburg to provide the opportunity to bring outdoor ministry and congregational ministry together! Johnsonburg will provide the programming which include staff, art supplies, equipment for activities, curriculum resources and activities.

The unfortunate thing about this retreat center is that it seemed to be very understaffed during our time. There was a shortage of food in the dining hall for almost every meal. Whenever our group went to the kitchen to ask for seconds, they had very little to spare. Apart from that, some of the meals weren’t made to a satisfactory level that a lot of my campers didn’t eat the food. They commented on how the food was ill prepared or the texture was weird. The rooms were very humid and there were no fans in the rooms which made it difficult to sleep comfortably. Opening the windows weren’t

If you get a chance to book the Meadowview Cabin, take it! Such a cozy setting. It’s cottage living comes to camp. The beds are super comfortable (one queen and one single), and I love sitting on the front porch to work.
As someone who has to have coffee first thing in the morning, I appreciated the coffee pot, and the small fridge and microwave gave me extra options for snacks.
It is a real gift of a retreat.

My twin 8 year olds attended the Genesis camp this summer. It is a shortened program for first time campers. They thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back for a full week next year. No homesickness, no tears when they left, only tears when we picked them up... because they wanted to stay longer.
The camp is well run! Communication before and during is phenomenal. The counselors connected with my children from the minute they opened the car door to welcome them to camp. It was very clear that the counselors are well trained and love kids.
The camp posts daily photos so you have an idea of what your

We brought a group of 30 Teenagers for a Leadership training. The hospitality we received during our overnight stay was great. Johnsonburg staff did an excellent job with the team building activities. They helped to get the group comfortable with sharing and doing activities together. It made our next sessions a lot easier. We all had a great time. Thank you!!

Beautiful facilities, and a view right off the lake. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and up to date the rooms were. Complete with pool, lake boating, rock wall, zip line, and low ropes course. The food is incredible, the staff is above and beyond accommodating, and go the extra mile to make your retreat awesome. I recommend it to anyone looking for a place to host a retreat, and will be using it for my retreats in the future.

I went to Camp Johnsonburg as a camper and loved it. Although I was only able to go once as a camper I remembered loving every minute of being there so I applied to work there as a summer camp counselor for the summer of 2013 and have returned to work there every summer since. I love the community built among staff, campers, parents and any visitors who rent out the camp. Camp Johnsonburg is a place like no other, every time I return I know I am entering a safe place where I can be myself and have a fun time.

This camp is lovely, the cabins are well maintained and the setting is fantastic. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating, the fire in the mess hall was nice to sit by and just relax. We were there for a retreat in mid-November and the weather was perfect so we were able to take advantage of their hiking trails and spend a lot of time in the woods. The trails are in need of some fresh paint or markers on the trees, and a little bit of clearing, there are some over grown spots and sections where you are really looking for the next marker, but for the most part easily walkable, and offer
