Fluffy, sweet, fresh bread with an amazing selections of both sweet and savory! I've frequented a lot of Asian bakeries similar to Sweet Buns and it really stood out to me for all of the unique flavors. Plus the BREAD. The base bread they use for all of their pastries is so sweet and fluffy I could eat it alone honestly.
One of their unique flavors, for example, was a bread roll wrapped in bacon and stuffed with sweet mayo and cucumber. It doesn't sound all that appetizing but I decided to give it a shot and the contrast between squishy sweet bread, savory bacon, and crispy fresh cucumber

We ordered a birthday cake for my dad's 50th. The cake was delicious, light and not too sweet. I don't think any frosting was used, the exterior was coated with whipped cream and the fruits on top was glazed with some sweet sauce. Overall if you want a customized fruit cake, sweet buns has some good options.

Oh my goodness! What an amazing find! This bakery is a real treasure. While they are listed as a bakery, stop in anytime because their lunch and coffee options are made fresh all day! Close your eyes and image warm pillowy buns and breads with just a hint of sweetness. They put common grocery sweet buns to shame!
This is now my go-to bakery. The goods are so fresh and mouthwatering, I've even placed a catering order!
The owners are always very friendly and accommodating. You can dine in or carry out. Take a trip over...you won't be disappointed!

Was excited walking in everything looks so good. Started a conversation to understand the items on the shelves as I have never been in the store. The employee looked annoyed at my questions confused and in my opinion was rude for absolutely no reason whatsoever. She did not want to help in any way explain or anything whatsoever, why are you working there? If you're not happy working someplace and you're not willing to help the customer go someplace else! My mom is from Hong Kong, and she was SO happy when I brought her here. Everything here reminded her of home, and she was especially delighted to see they had authentic Hong Kong milk tea on the menu -- something we haven't had in a very long time since we live in West Palm Beach. Making this one of our stops on our short Tampa trip was well worth it.

This has been on my list for a while, but its easy to forget about since I usually eat breakfast at home and its hard to tear me away from First Watch/Shelly's etc.
I went in the late morning today and was surprised at the amount of space inside. One half is the actual baked goods/cashier station and the other half is customer seating. The space is nigh spotless and shiny.
You grab a tray and tongs, grab your desired item and place it on the tray. Then you go to the cashier and pay. Hygienic and clean!

Best bakery in Tampa! The store was super clean and the cashiers were very nice. They have a wide variety of treats from sweet to savory to satisfy your tastebuds. I love their egg tarts and the buns with shredded pork on top (floss buns?). They also have coffee and other drinks, too. Highly recommended and I definitely will be back again and again.

I LOVE Korean pastries and unfortunately there aren't any Korean bakeries in Tampa... but Sweet Buns Bakery comes close enough! They have a wide variety of unique breads/pastries/cheesecakes/crepecakes/cookies/etc! They also do custom cakes that are made with Asian cream/icing (I don't know exactly what it is, but I swear Asian cakes have a different type of icing on them which imo are way better than the standard cakes sold in the US ). If you're a dessert fanatic like me, this is a must try!

This place is a must-visit. Their buns are the best in town.
They give you a tray and your own tongs so it's super COVID-safe, no cross contamination with utensils which is great. The BBQ pork buns are seriously the best- we love the ones at Yummy House dim sum & the owners are the same. We don't eat them from anywhere else.
The prices are great.
I don't there's a single bun that I've tried that I haven't liked.
We love the fluffy cheesecake as well, super light, not sweet. The other cheesecakes are great too, I'd skip the mousse cake. It had a lot of gelatin

She came back with EIGHT different pastries. It's as if she thinks we are both 300 lbs. Cute store with an amazing selection. But truthfully, for me the items we tried looked much better than they tasted. Most items are a slightly sweet bread not pastry like you might expect. I was a little disappointed. It was still a fun experience and we tried a couple sweet and and a couple savory. For me, savory was better. I miss the gooey glaze on top of a flaky cinnamon bun!

First time visiting this bakery and I was in heaven! They had savory and sweet options for every taste. You need to grab a tray and place the items you want to purchase. They also have packaged goods if you are in a hurry. Also, the place was clean and staff were wearing mask. They played Korean music and their restroom was equally clean. The decor made you feel welcomed. We bought different Asian delicacies and everything tasted delicious.

Sweet Buns reminds me of Sweet Hut in Atlanta - i used to go on what seems like the daily. Now i can't remember the last time i went. Yikes. I was really only interested in the egg tarts. I ended up trying the coconut crumb jam bun since it looked and sounded super unique. Unfortunately, it was pretty dry and looked much better than it tasted.
The egg tarts were the saving grace of Sweet Buns for me! Very tasty, with some flaky layers in the tart shell. It seemed like it could use a little more color, though.

I bookmarked this place and was glad that I was finally in the area to go check it out. It's in the University Plaza and sits behind Chili's. It's such a cute store and reminds me of those cute little Paris bakeries that I love so much in Los Angeles. Although the selection isn't quite as big, there were definitely a couple of items that caught my eye. They had the huge twisted donuts that I love so much. Birthday cake order!! I recently ordered a birthday cake here and the process was so easy. They only need a 24hour notice. They have many designs on their website or you can look at the photos at the bakery. For round cakes, theres 8inch, 10in, and 12in.
They come standard with a fruit filling and chiffon style cake. As this is an Asian bakery, the sweetness level of the cake is moderate but perfect for my preference. I ordered my cake without fruit but had a taro filling instead. My family loved it!
