Our magical story began when Chef Haylee was attending baking school in New York. Her dream was to open up a bakery of her own in her home state of Florida someday. A week later, she made another big step by purchasing her second location in St. Pete. After months of brainstorming, one of her networking partners helped her develop the new name Southern Bay Bakery.
We will still be here to make your day sweeter! After graduating, Haylee returned to the Bay area, and went back to work for Chef Ostrander at the St. Pete Bakery, where she has been honing her skills, and preparing to open her own business. Haylee is very excited to be opening Southern Bay Bakery, and she looks forward to helping you have a "sweet" day.

Quality and service are still five stars as you can read in my previous review linked below. But the prices were bumped up by half a few weeks ago and I had a bit of sticker shock, hence the update now.
One of my faves, the chicken pot pie now costs almost $8 which is too rich for a hand pie so I passed on buying it. The mini cupcakes are still so cute and tasty but at $1.75 each they require some consideration and moderation. I purchased two instead of four.
Should I dock a star for a big price hike though the quality and service remain excellent? I hate to do it but affordability was

This is a really cute decorated place . I see the owner put a lot of effort onhow it looks but the pastries tell a different story
The scones have no flavor at all. Not only that the place is completely overpriced where does she think she is? Not even in California you find these prices. And we're not in . Miami last time I checked
I also tried the bread pudding and it's not good at all I just don't understand how you can not do a good bread pudding I don't understand how I'm the world people can give them 5 stars,. I guess Dunedin standards on pastries are not too high

We just moved here and Southern Bay Bakery is our go to bakery now bc of how awesome they are! Even though they were absolutely swamped this week they did everything to accommodate my 8 years old dream cake. We were so pleased about all of it. Absolutely gorgeous custom cake and delicious. I got the Key Lime Bar, a buckeye, the bacon and honey Brie croissant, the German chocolate cupcake and the red velvet cupcake… when I tell you I just about cried tears of joy when I was tasting all of them !! They were so so so delicious and my personal favorites were the key lime bars and the croissant. Also, the staff (especially Angela) was SO AMAZING & made the experience even more wonderful! I would 15/10 recommend this place to anyone in St Pete, & will definitely be going back soon !

The croissants deserve an Emmy, not exaggerating, the flavors amazing, beautiful lamination, nice balanced ingredients and you get a massive one the size of your head for a reasonable price. I usually get two servings out of one.
The minus here were the perfect cake, frosting and topping ratio. Tried the white cake with raspberry with chocolate and its my fav! The lemon one was good too!
The coffee is fantastic should you enjoy black coffee or a flavored latte.
You cannot come here and buy only one thing, it's all beyond amazing.

So far so good! I've loved Southern Bay's croissants since I had one at the St Pete morning market. I believe the stuffed croissants are their specialty, and considering how difficult croissants are to make the price of $6 each is quite a deal in my opinion.
When I stopped by, the stuffed croissants they had included: bacon and brie (what I got), Cuban, ham and cheese, cheeseburger, and chocolate. The lady who served me said her favorite is ham and cheese, so maybe I'll get that next time.

Absolute perfection. Everything I have tried, from savory to sweet, has been fantastic.
The boozy bites are so flavorful. I am now a fan of sfogliatelle after trying it for the first time at Southern Bay. The chicken pot pie and Cuban croissant are to die for.
The kids love the cupcakes, too.
The people are always friendly and helpful. The space is beautiful.

A friend told me about this place, and how it was sort of a hidden gem. It is a very nice bakery, and had a very friendly vibe when I walked in the door. The gentleman that helped me was very friendly, and smiled through his mask. There were patrons that seemed to enjoy hanging out and starting their morning. I came on a Sunday so I don't think there was as much selection as there might be during the week, so I will be back.
I picked up some tasty coconut macaroons and a blueberry scone for testing. Both were fantastic.

Bakery items look amazing. Customer service is terrible. I went in on 3/31/1021 all 3 counter girls were not friendly, in fact, they were VERY RUDE. There were 5 people in our group we were the only customers at the time we were there.
We went after hearing about how good the bakery goods tasted by my sister who had found the bakery 3 days earlier.
The items looked great, but after being treated so poorly by the staff, I ended up not buying anything. The girl with the long strawberry hair had the worse attitude and by far was the rudest when speaking to us. We won't be back.

Great new place! My husband loves molasses cookies and says these are the best he's had since he left New England.
On another visit we had a savoy croissant: mushroom, carmelized onions, and amazing cheese in a tender croissant that could win hearts in Paris. Shareable, which leaves room for a petite boozy cupcake, available only to those over 21.

Southern Bay Bakery took over what used to be Coldstone (many moons ago) in the Sunken Gardens Plaza on 4th Street. I found them on Google looking for a bakery that would have last minute desserts ready to go. I was a little last minute for my husband's birthday, but this place did not disappoint.
I definitely splurged on a handful of items. So many things looked so good and rather than making a tough decision I selected them all!

Excellent experience from start to finish! The cake was the most beautiful i've ever seen. It was reasonably priced, especially for all the detail involved. Everyone was friendly and listened to what we wanted. My daughter and our friends and family were in awe. It even tasted great! I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Only open a week and people are talking! I'm really impressed when people tKe a simple space in a strip mall and get creative with it.The owners nailed it here! The photos don't do it justice. Customers need to see it! The rewars are in the baked goods. Pastries, cookies, and cupcake, oh my! I had the best lemon bar with perfectly balanced lemon touch. The "Buckeye" is a yummy peanut butter eye surround by solid milk chocolate. There are several types of brownies of which I tasted a perfect example. The same goes with the fudge, thick and tasty. Oh, and this was only my first

Loved our wedding cake! Gave them one picture to go on and they duplicated it perfectly! The taste was amazing (lemon cake with raspberry filling) and everyone complemented us on the choice we made. We also did cookies and cannolis along with our wedding cake. Highly recommend for all of your bakery needs! Great pricing, helpful staff, great quality food and beverages all around!
