Walking into this bakery is like walking into my grandmothers home. The food is incredible and homemade, prices are reasonable and the staff treats you like family. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone who is looking for the best Cuban in town and the smoothest cafe con leche. I have been looking everywhere for authentic pastelito de guayaba.

What a find!!! This local Florida girl is thrilled to have found a delicious breakfast empanada, breakfast sandwich on Cuban bread and Café con leche. Please forgive my silly husband for saying no sugar in the Café con leche… he is now aware to not mess with how one is made after a good 5 mins of “how dare you”! In all fairness I usually use stevia and it still tastes delicious, but I can’t wait to go back and try one with sugar. This place is a must try!! Delicious 🤤

I see makel hasn't made any changes to the amount of filling in their empanadas bummer! In the picture with 2 empanadas is just about where the filling starts in the steak and jalapeño. I just wanted to give a visual reference so you could see what I'm talking about. It's pretty inexcusable to only get filling after eating half of the empanada but I always give businesses the benefit of the doubt and decided to give makel another chance to no avail. Maybe I'm not picky but no one buys empanadas for the shell! We want the goods inside lol anyways this will probably be the last

Bakery Makel is hidden off the road, but if a product is good, people will find it. And they have! The place was very crowded which was a good sign. I asked the worker how long they'd been there & she said 4 years. So I'm late to the game. The bakery has many bakery items from the countries to our south. Plus they have empanadas, Cuban sandwiches, & coffees. All I got was a Guava & Cheese pastry. It was so good. I saw in other reviews I need to try some other things, so I'll be back.

I was on the hunt for some good coffee during my visit in the Clearwater area and once I found this place and saw all their delicious bakery items I knew I must try!
This spot is located in a small strip mall, and is a cute storefront with their decor!

I have always heard great reviews about this bakery when it comes to their pastries, which are great! I decided to order a birthday cake for my brother knowing how good the sweets were here. I placed this order on July 14th and asked to have it finished by July 24th so the baker could have sufficient time to make a nice "presentable" cake.When I received the cake I was shocked of how poorly this cake was decorated. OMG!! OMG!!! This bakery is my Dream!!!! Grew up in Miami, so I had the access to every delicious latin cuisine. Coming to Clearwater was hard in the stomach cause I missed my empanadas, pan sobao, and tequeños! This is the bakery I never knew I had and needed!! I pretty much grew up in W Tampa and on Cuban food. When I moved to Clearwater a few years ago I was devastated that there wasn't really anything close to the food I was use to and that you could in fact mess up a Cuban (who knew). This past year we found Bakery Makel and it was instant love. I have days where EVERY meal is ordered from them (today is one). I absolutely love this place and I am so happy they are open. The pizza empanadas are amazing by the way, if you want to try something unique try those.

I'm so glad I tried this place! I found it on Uber Eats and I ordered because it was free delivery for sharing a delivery with a nearby order. We tried a tequeno, small cafe con leche, cheese and guava pastry, breakfast empanada and Cuban empanada. Everything but the breakfast empanada was amazing. I expected the breakfast empanada to be scrambled eggs with chucks of bacon and cheese. The empanada was mostly empty with a small piece of bacon and a fried over hard egg.

Absolutely fantastic. 5 stars for quality, taste and price. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwhich on cuban bread, 2 breakfast empanadas and the breakfast cuban (essentially a cuban with egg). Everything is good! Everything is made in house and oh by the way the coffee is awesome too. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to enjoy great food at a great price 👌🏾💯

Amazing Cuban sandwiches!!! I also indulged in the Tres Leches Cake which was the best I've ever had. Tried some Orange cake, too which was also delicious! My only complaint would be that the fries that came with the Cuban weren't done enough, and that's coming from someone who likes soft fries :)
