If you are interested in sailing, and more specifically racing, there are ample opportunities to join one of our racing fleets, or to crew on one of the boats in those fleets. The women's fleet races on Mondays, small boats race on Tuesdays. Big boats race on Wednesdays and Saturdays. And the double handed fleet races on Fridays.
In addition, our power boaters host a number of events, usually on Thursdays as well as many weekends. SSYC offers sailing lessons and a year-round program for children ages 8 - 18. We offer a six-week series of lessons in Opti's, 420's and Lasers. Our juniors attend a number of regattas throughout the summer, and host one of thelargest regattas on Lake Michigan, the Kaszube Cup.

Welcome to the biggest, friendliest and most inclusive yacht club on Lake Michigan, bringing together folks from all walks of life. While we have our blue-blazer traditions, no one ever called us stuffy. What you'll find is a more laid-back vibe that invites people to just be themselves, away from the pressures of life in general.
It's different for everyone. You can carve out your own experience and pick your context. But we believe one thing is true across the board. Among private clubs in metropolitan Milwaukee, South Shore Yacht Club gives you a great experience at a reasonable price. We're also sometimes called "the people's yacht club."

Me and my wife are first-year members and have had a boat in a slip the whole year great people, great view this is my cheap lakefront property, I have had no problems with the couple little holes they have in the breakwater I think people left too early, there are lots of openings I suggest if anybody thought about coming to South shore yacht club now is the time.

Went for taco night this fine Tuesday with some friends. You have your choice of chicken or beef, then hard corn or flour soft shell, or a corn bowl.
They are served with just the meat, then it is off to the topping bar. Strong selection of vegetables. Cheese obviously, we are Wisconsin.
The only hit would be the lack of salsa types.
The team is awesome and extremely attentive. It is a paid club so you would expect nothing less. Super cool fun folks that bust their buts to make the experience great. Very laid back atmosphere, not what you would think in a yacht club. Very fun, we don't

This is the best kept secret in town. Chef Sam and his crew always deliver, the bar staff is always cordial and I can always count on a relaxed and comfortable environment (and love seeing all the friends I have made here). Two of my favorite bar menu items are the fish tacos (with avocado and special sauce) and the cheese curds (with special sauce)! Friday dinner menu changes; last night the Risotto dish with chicken and roasted vegetables, the Blueberry Arugula Salad and the Muenster Burger delighted each of us.

Kudos to the Dining Staff at SSYC!
I've been a member for years, long before I had a boat.
I received notification of my niece being in town on the late Thursday afternoon of October 6, 2016. I didn't really have enough time to speak to all of my local relatives to get them all together in 1 place before my niece's departure that Saturday.
Having done so before (for our annual celebration of my mother's birthday) I spoke with Karen at SSYC and she agreed to be the ad hoc Central Command of our impromptu get-together at SSYC's dining room the following night, Friday

The view...the view...the view...one of the best in the city! Spalding let me get my deck shoes! Honestly this is a blue collar yacht club and is not pretentious. A third of the members don't even own a boat so they are just waiting to befriend the members who have spent their retirement funds on one.
You expect the food and drinks to be overpriced and I think they are fairly priced with actually cheap drinks. The food quality can vary from chef to chef but is generally very good. If they aren't serving the big food menu you can expect a limited menu with average bar food. The

To be honest, I'm not a full fledged member yet, but I hope to be in the not so distant future, so this review will be updated when I get on the inside and have more to share.
SSYC seems like a legit, sailling focused yacht club with a strong social group too.
It's the location for the annual Queen's Cup gathering - the oldest yachting events out there, an event one of my sailing buddys from MI gets really excited about.
Nice bar where you can get a real Dark and Stormy too.
