That was the mission Mohamed Sammy Khouraki set out to accomplish in the summer of 1983, when he and his wife Noha opened up one of the first specialty markets catering to the Middle Eastern community. Located on Cerritos and Magnolia in Anaheim, California, the store was originally called Cerritos Produce.
A few months later, the store was renamed Altayebat Market, which means "the tasty and delicious" in Arabic. Pretty soon this small store began drawing in a lot of customers, who came for the superior quality products and legendarily low pricing. But Middle Easterners weren't the only ones traveling far distances to shop at Altayebat.

Actually l went to this store on my way from work at 7 am one of the workers said they open at 8am.So l had to wait but when it reached 8am a lady the open at 9am this was embarrassing as l sleepy. One of the ladies came at 8.15 am so l asked the question and she said they open at 8.30am but l complained. She went in and later before 8.30am she let us in. Unfortunately l did not find what l wanted again was told to come in the afternoon. I ended up with nothing and went home. Will never go back there again because even the person who served me l wanted an alternative but what he gave me was not

Get little market. Employees are very kind and helpful. I like to buy nigella Sativa/Kalonji/black seed to give away in Covid kits. Black seed with raw honey is used to prevent and treat Covid. Their prices are very affordable

Everything has changed since the son of the owner took charge. I was customer that drove to this store 40+ miles to shop every month, more than a decade, from Lake Elsinore. And every fall I’d get veggies for canning.. I just hang up from a short conversation with the son of the owner, introducing himself first as manger and after as owner. Rude. Raising his voice to a point of yelling. And telling me, it’s 5.50 and his store it’s closing and I’m taking his time. When I hang up, total time was 1.34 min including waiting and transferring and waiting for him.. If the father is not returning

I'm new to the area and found this cute little grocery shop through Instacart. I was a little overwhelmed by how busy and small it was but As soon as we walked in we were greeted and personally helped out by the manager or owner! I believe it was honestly the best grocery shopping experience I've ever had in my life! It's not often you come across genuine people that actually care about their customers! I can't wait to come back!

I wish i couldn't see what happened right now to an old couple. they seemed very decent but the attitude the altaybat management came up with to these old couples were very bad.
i was with one of the cashiers paying for my groceries. the young tall guy i think the son of the owner and the old guy i think the owner were escorting an old couple. they literally kicked them out of the store which was very heart breaking. they were not supposed to do that even if they said something wrong. they were aged and i thought for a moment if it happened to my parents.
they should learn how to manage the customers

I am giving this market one star because manager, Alaa, lacks basic customer service skills. I pointed out the false advertisement tactic this store is using to lure customers to buy items at lower posted price to find out at checkout the price is doubled because you did not read the fine print that you must buy two or more items of same to get the advertised price. Almost every item on sale has similar pricing scheme and you have to bring a magnifying glasses to read the fine print. What made me feel disappointed was the way manager Alaa handled the issue blaming it on me "customer"

Whole chicken for $7 Why all this difference because it is halal. One piece of chicken wings for $2, this is haram, not halal

My mom went to this store as a kid with her parents and we had to continue to tradition. The hour drive was totally worth this classic Arabic grocery store in the heart of Anaheim , California. You will find a lot of your needs for Arabic dishes and good brands that you can't find at Walmart or other grocery stores. The owner was extremely helpful and walked us through how to make an online meat order on their website . He even offered to hold our order in the fridge while we continued to shop in the area. These workers went the extra mile to make sure you were taken care of, they even help

I've been ordering from Altayebat all through the covid year, and they've been great. I use them through InstaCart, and the service is about as good as anyone can reasonably expect. The in-store shoppers are better pickers than just about any other store, they're always good with the curbside pick-up, and they couldn't be more friendly and pleasant about it.

Great meat market in Anaheim! The meat is always fresh and high quality, and the prices are very reasonable. I'd especially recommend the marinated chicken, which is great to grill up for a quick and tasty meal. The staff are very helpful and friendly as well. And of course, the meat is all halal here so that is always a plus!
I mainly go here to get meat, but they also have lots of other Arab and American snacks and staples well. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

We have always shopped at Altayebat but during this pandemic, they have come out as a true superstar. They started offering curbside pickup through Instacart and that has been a lifesaver!
The process of ordering is smooth. When they start shopping for the items you've ordered, they are always so polite and accommodating. Shoutout to Romy for always being a great shopper! Curbside pickup is also easy and quick.
And their products are always of good quality. We always get their meats in bulk, so to us it's reasonably priced.

Used to come here a lot when I lived closer but was able to finally visit yesterday after years. I loved that they only let 10 people in at a time. I can see that being annoying if there's a long line but I came at 10 AM on a Monday and was the first in line waiting to enter. With the current pandemic, I appreciated them limiting how many people can be inside since it's hard to maintain six feet distance from others when shopping.

I wanted to love this place so bad!!! Being in Lil Arabia, Anaheim, there's no cultural grocer market. There's shops here & there but no grocery store... except this one?
Only 10 people were being let in at a time which is annoying.. but actually I didn't mind since the inside of the store is SO small. It's very crammed & it's like the size of a bigger convenience store lol.
The inside is dingy, old, & needs a major facelift. There are some good products here & there. The meat department is lacking!!! I was going to pick up chicken but no way I'll
