They're selling spoiled yogurt and kaymak, and its the second time it's happened to me in the span 2 months. When I spoke to the manager he did not care at all, not even asking which one was spoiled. It seems like they're not refrigerating them correctly. I'd suggest you go to the 99 ranch store in irvine or somewhere else, unless you'd like to food poison

I have been a devotee of this supermarket/ cultural food court but in recent years the quality of the prepared food have diminished and this is across the board. I have brought many examples of this to management and they always respond to it by refunding etc but really the quality of the food needs to be addressed. The rice often seems old, salty, overcooked. I hope some effort will be placed on ensuring quality prepared foods reach their customers. After many tries I will be going elsewhere!

I ordered items that I haven't seen for a very long time back east I ordered pistachio mortadella salad Olivier and Beef chicken and vegetable cutlets. I also tried one of their Arabic dishes I forgot the name it has ground beef in it and it's very tasty.
I'm definitely going to become a regular here lol

This is a Middle East market which also carries other nations food. Prices are very reasonable so this place is always crowded, especially on weekends. The fresh food sections are not well laid out so not easy to get around. They often have good sales, another reason for the crowd, but quality may not be the best.
They have a food service area where you can make your selections & dine outside. They also have a bakery.
Their Persian cucumbers, Italian eggplants, carrots, broccoli are normally good & fresh.

Went for the first time since my last review as I was next door. Went to check out produce. Was not good so I browsed other aisles. As I walked up to the crowded prepared food area I saw customers and employees were not wearing masks. Not even sort of pretending, just no masks. Just leaving this here for those who care. Really sad how downhill this place has gone.
Notice the demographic of the people who think this place is still great. It's no longer the target demographic or people who know better. It's the oooooo sangak and cheap steam table food is so exotic type.

This is by far one of my favorite grocery stores when I'm in or passing through Irvine! They have a variety of chips from other countries like shrimp/crab lays, but it's a hit or miss because of what they have available.
I'd definitely pass on the Indian food tbh, but their desserts are all pretty good. My favorite not-too-sweet Latifeh never fails, their lemon cake is pretty good, their creme brûlée cheesecake is a lil bit too thick for me, but the regular New York cheesecake is pretty good.
I always come back trying new stuff.
Also, their hidden secret is the roasted peanuts

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! Rude and disrespectful !!!!
If you are a respectful member of this society (not used too be treated like nobody), then please don’t go to this place. I’m amazed how they managed to stay open. Products are awful but that is besides the point, the most horrible thing about this place is the MANAGEMENT, they are unprofessional and rude. They treat employees and customers in such a terrible way that you feel sorry for regular employees even yourself by being there. What happened Wholesome Choice?
There was a time not long ago I would have argued that Wholesome Choice had the best produce and prepared food in Irvine but that has all come to a nasty and instantaneous end. I stopped last week to pick up a Salad and a Pita and both were absolutely horrendous. The Pita was hard and stale and the Oriental Salad was thrown together so haphazardly it was comical. A couple of fistfuls worth of Mixed Greens were tossed indifferently into a styrofoam tray with Tomato wedges, some slices Cucumber, a drizzle of an insipid Dressing, and then a mountain of Wonton Crisps

I've been coming here for years - where else can you find a star studded food court that serves up a medley of cuisines from all over the world? While I always take a gander around the food court to scout my options, I always end up at The Grill that slangs Mediterranean/Persian fare.
My go-to order is always the chicken shish kabob plate (~$12-13). It comes with a generous helping of chicken (at least 8 substantial pieces) over a bed of rice and a charred tomato. The chicken is so flavorful and juicy that it doesn't need an additional sauce. They give you a generous portion of food

I'm very disappointed that the lady selling meat suggested a marinated beef that was horribly tough. I was embarrassed and my 80 year old dad badly chocked on it at the table. If you don't know whether or not the meat is tender, just say you don't know. It's better.

Disappointed with the qualities of the meat and fish..came in yesterday for the special price of fish and there was literally 1 small frozen piece of sea bass and had to ask them to change the price to reflect the special price. Came in today to pick up 1 day only special beef short ribs and also picked up advertised goat chunk. As can be seen in pictures, goat chunk has lots of bones compared to the picture which looks like no bones. The beef short ribs also look nothing like advertised picture which had lots of marble.

Closes before their actual time. This has happened more than once. Either update your damn time or stay open until 11pm like your website, Google, Yelp, AND even FRONT DOOR say. It's 10:30pm and you're closed. I get that your quality of EVERYTHING, esp customer service, is total crap now, but this is just ridiculous. No regard for peoples time.

I wish we lived closer to this incredible shopping and dining extravaganza. A better word to describe this would be a Persian bazaar where you can go in with very little idea of what you feel like eating and have menus of delicious food offered to you with the benefit of a visual prepared version for almost immediate dining. Since I am half Persian thanks to my lovely wife Manya I always opt for the Persian food over all the other options. I must admit I am a bit spoiled since they always make sure to have a generous portion of Tahdiq for me ready as a walk towards the Ghormeh Sabzi stand. Pro

Even though, this store has a lot of different products from various cuisines, it is not the best option. Some products seem old as if they were there for a very long time (dusty). Right at the entrance, we also saw some rotten fruits. Overall, the fruit/vegetable department is nice, though, because there are a lot of choices and exotics. The store is also not very clean, and isn’t super organized, but because it has so many different options, from hot meals to fresh vegetables, it is a nice place to go to buy everything you need.

Overall still solid four stars. The Indian food used to be my favorite but now it is just ok for a quick service option (palak paneer tasted a bit tangy and wasn't as creamy and rich, chicken tikka masala had large chunks of chicken breast but the chicken pieces weren't tikka). Next time I'm going to try the shawarma from the other stand. I got some Turkish delights which were delectable... rose, pineapple, pomegranate and sour cherry. For $14.99/pound, this is the best price I've found for quality like this.

Well Wholesome Choice, ya redeemed yaself. Since my last review, I have made a couple trips here, & the last trip, made me really love this store. You see I've never really 'combed' the aisles of this store. My trips usually are quick, going straight to the food court & going to one specific aisle.
I'm so glad I took the time to check out each aisle! To start, I found Russian Sunflower Oil & Turkish Hazelnut Cream spread... and the best find? Polish Nutella in a *glass jar* OMG for a cheaper than Ralphs price too!! (yep it's even the large size)
