Nestled in the beautiful California Bay Area, Family Tree Wellness, Inc. is a community of helping professionals dedicated to supporting healing for women and their families centered around Perinatal Mental Health. It is our view that mothering is the very heart of our humanity. Within our practice, we are a fun, dynamic and connected group of clinicians who deeply value our relationships with each other.
Becoming a mother is a massive transformation. It's a deconstruction of who you were and a reconstruction of who you are becoming, which includes a different biology, a different body, a different awareness and a different value system. Transforming from "pregnant woman" to "mother" is a process, and it involves real growing pains.
Are attempts to control your fertility completely stressing you out? Do you experience significant anxiety, depression, anger, stress, grief, sadness, hopelessness or pessimism related to fertility? Does your desire to build a family overwhelm your thoughts? Do you have difficulty engaging in meaningful relationships and enjoyable activities?
Grieving is a meaningful and necessary process, unique to each person. Grief is raw and intense and it requires special care. Given time and compassionate attention, your loss can be integrated into your life in a way that both honors its significance and allows for new movement. Opening your heart to someone who has knowledge of loss and trauma - and the exceptional capacity to hold your intense feelings, can bring tremendous relief.
Many needs of pregnant women fail to be met in our modern lives where we often live in isolation, not part of a community of caring others who help nurture and shepherd us into motherhood. Many mamas-to-be don't receive any loving hands on our depleted, transforming bodies or any attention for our wildly growing hearts that are full of new fears and aspirations.
