John S. Burton, Esq, has been practicing in the areas of estate planning, asset protection, business and elder law for almost two decades. Founder of J.S. Burton, P.L.C., John was inspired to shape his law practice as a boutique, family office environment in which he could represent individuals, families and businesses on a multigenerational level.
Well over half of all Americans have not planned for incapacity or death. Estate planning allows us to exert some control over our affairs after we die. It also eases the process for our loved ones by getting many of the hard decisions, like who gets what, out of the way ahead of time. Estate planning, however, is not a do-it-yourself process.
In most instances, when a person is speaking about a trust they are usually referring to a "Revocable Living Trust." As discussed on the Estate Planning Page, revocable trusts are typically the best way to allow someone to manage your assets if you become incapacitated. Moreover, the revocable trust avoids the associated costs, hassles and public record process that basic wills, conservatorships, and guardianships often incur.

Olivia put my will together. let me explain that when I do taxes for my clients sometimes I get a deer in the headlights response because I am in my comfort zone having studied taxes for so long. JS Burton made a great presentation about the need for trusts. Not only for large estates, but also much easier/faster to manage for those you leave behind. I made the business decision to execute a trust, they were very helpful, thorough and provide outstanding annual service until the trust needs to be executed. A great organization, highly recommended
