GHYC Jr. Sails #1 goal is safety; for that reason we have made the difficult decision to CANCEL the in-person Auction again this year. GHYC Junior Sail is a non-profit organization created to promote youth sailing through award winning summer camp for kids and teens. Our goal is to provide access to sailing to girls and boys, ages 6 to18 with no sailing experience up to racing level sailors.
We build self-esteem, teamwork and a respect for the environment. We run programs in instruction, competitive racing, and community outreach. Race team trains and competes in 3 different seasons throughout the greater Puget Sound area. Volunteer of the Year Award was created to recognize those outstanding volunteers whose unselfish and dedicated service to community sailing has made a significant difference in their community.

Services
Below are some of the different ways that you can help us in our goal to work with our local youth. We encourage you to participate in some way. Although we have excellent, volunteer hands-on boat maintenance, it takes money for parts and work that must be out-sourced. Thus, we depend on corporate sponsorships, our yearly auction, and donations from the community.
Sail camp is the perfect way to practice safety and respect in and around boats and the aquatic environment, all the time having great FUN. This lifelong sport develops motor skills while building self-confidence and encouraging teamwork. GHYC Junior Sail offers both full day Summer Camps, and After-School Sailing programs.
The Narrows Race Team, supported by both GHYC Junior Sail and TYC Junior Sailing programs, offers opportunities for sailors ages 8 to 18 to learn, grown and compete in youth regattas throughout the year. Team members receive professional coaching at practices and regattas, the camaraderie of a close-knit group, and support from dedicated volunteers who provide facilities, program support and boat maintenance.
We are looking for a few great people who love to sail and want to teach others the joy of sailing. GHYC Junior Sail and TYC Junior Sail programs partner to provide programming at the TYC Wollochet Bay Outstation (3418 White Cloud Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98335) and West Shore Marina (3815 Harborview Dr, Gig Harbor, WA 98332).

This is an amazing program. All of the coaches and staff work so hard and run a great program that my child enjoys! The director of the camp is wonderful, and really goes the extra mile to work with families to make a wonderful experience. We are very grateful to have this in our area!

I'm so glad we found this camp two years ago. My son has been sailing ever since and my daughter started this spring. My children enjoy being out on the water, learning new life skills, and making new sailing friends. All the coaches are wonderful and provide a positive, fun, and safe learning environment for all ages and abilities. Ashley Nelson, the Sailing Director, does an amazing job with all the parent communication and is a great example of a leader to all the coaches and students.

This camp is terrific fun for kids aged 6 to 18 who want to learn how to sail or are ready to improve their sailing skills. Staff are enthusiastic, US Sailing-certified instructors who use games and hands-on activities to teach basic sailing skills while having fun! If you spend any time in the Harbor during the summer, you can't help but see these happy campers scooting around the bay in single or double handed boats, or playing games ashore. The price for a week-long camp is right too: $150 for 1/2 day Guppy Camp and $320 for full-day Tween & Teen Camps.
