Capitol Youth Chorale (CYC) was formed in the late 1970's as a choir group in Olympia, WA with the purpose of voice instruction, concert, and competition. Part of the year long curriculum and contest included a week retreat at camp that brought kids and music instructors to one place for a week of focused musical training.

They began to meet an environmental learning center at Washington State Parks, Fort Flagler, and we still hold camp there today. Capitol Youth Chorale Camp is now a registered Non Profit in Washington State, supported by registration fees, our generous volunteers and the charitable gifts of those in our community.
Services
Our program has been blessed with a very stable staff for the last 15 plus years. Camp staff are all volunteers using their precious annual leave or leave away from work, job, and summer to mentor at camp. We traditionally have approximately 50/50 private business owner or employees to government/teacher staff ratio.
We have a very high retention rate of kids as first year campers that see the program through and become Counselors in Training (CITs) the following year. In fact, we retain about 65% of the first year campers for 4-5 successive years and into the CIT program. We average 45 kids and 18 staff, and our CITs usually enter the program as they're entering high school.
The directors and staff of the Capitol Youth Chorale Summer Music Camp want your camper's week to be filled with new experiences, new friends, and fun. For sixty-five people to enjoy their week at camp together there are a few rules that we must all live by. Campers will respect the privacy of others.
