Dr. Matthew Shirley grew up in the Saltsburg area and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Vincent College. He then went on to earn a Doctorate in Optometry at The Ohio State University and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.
During his time in school, Dr. Shirley spent his final year of training under nationally renowned eye doctors at locations in Central and Southern Ohio, and North Carolina.This included ocular disease rotations with Eye Specialists of Ohio and the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina.

The doctors and staff at Shirley Eye Care are wonderful!! My daughters and I are seen there for our eye exams, and everyone is very friendly from the moment you walk through the doors. Beautiful office space, and great selection of frames! They are also very accommodating if you ever have an emergency. I once scratched my eye, and Dr.Ross was able to get me in the same day. I tell everyone to go to this office!

Where to start! First, let me say I have gotten so many compliments on my new eyeglasses. They helped me pick the perfect frame for my face shape, the color of my hair, and my skin tone. I'm always overwhelmed when I'm looking for new glasses. They picked a couple of pairs for me and I was sold. It was so easy this time! If you want a 5-star eye appointment and overall experience, this is the place! Dr. Shirley and his staff were AMAZING, start to finish. This is our new home when it comes to anything eye-related. Dr. Ross provided an excellent and thorough eye exam. Very professional and he took time to explain his findings and any abnormalities. The office staff was personable and pleasant. Emily was exceptional. She went above and beyond to assist in obtaining just the right glasses for me. I would highly recommend Shirley Eye Care!

Called to see if I had glasses or if I could get another trial box so that I could safely see to drive. They waited for me to show up and even let me go ahead and pick out my new frames despite it being closing time! Big thank you to Emily that helped with the frames afterwards as well! They truly go beyond what they need to do to make sure everyone has their best experience there and everyone is so so friendly. Have seen both Dr. Ross and Shirley and they were both amazing with explaining the results of test and very thorough in everything everyone does there. Highly recommend to anyone!

We absolutely love going to Shirley Eye Care! Their entire staff is so friendly. We see Dr Ross, and he is great with all of us but especially with my girls. He is very patient and very thorough, with each of them. Very reasonable prices and great selection of glasses also...very modern and clean office.

Very friendly and helpful. I was having problems with my glasses and my previous eye doctor was not helpful in finding why I couldn't see clearly. It wasn't until I went to Shirley eye care that they realized my eyewear prescription was too strong, causing my issues. I was checked multiple times, with my old glasses, new glasses and contacts to ensure a proper fit. I am seeing the world clearly now thanks to Shirley eye care and their wonderful team.

Dr. Shirley and the office personal that are currently there and boast the same approach to eye care as the late Dr. Cook are nice and polite enough. However, after giving Dr. Shirley and his team an honest try since Dr. Cook's passing, my child and I are going to be finding somewhere else for our eye care needs. The last two years my daughter's glasses have been "delayed" in coming in after being told within 10 business days they would arrive. When I called in after 15 business days I was then told the service they send out to takes longer and they generally get them done
