View and location was great. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was a bit unsatisfactory. I'm not into frills, but a clean room is what I expect. There was hair all over the shower, the bedding was dirty among other things.

Great location and price! Oceanfront motel. Walking distance to restaurants and pier. Stayed on 2nd floor oceanfront room with a beautiful view. Room was nice and spacious. Only wished the bed was bigger and the sheets were softer. Other than that it was a great stay.

My family and I stay at this location every spring/summer and we love it. The staff is awesome and always accommodating, the rooms are big and clean, it's a peaceful location and we love how close to the beach it is.

Small, simple, older motel, but clean. No elevator, so keep that in mind. Exceptionally clean pool area. Short walk (thru parking lot) to beach and pier. Restaurants next door. Staff on site. No issue with parking. Clean linens and rooms.

South wind is you get what you pay for. If your not staying in your room much it's ok. Make sure to bring a hair dryer though because there is none to be found. Convenient to Kure pier.

I've renamed this place "the stress hotel." Stress #1. When I first arrived in town I received a phone call from the lady at the front desk asking what my ETA was. I was taken aback for a moment b/c I have NEVER had a hotel/motel call me asking me when I was going to check in. And besides all that it's just down right rude AF. She told me that she was leaving at 7pm EST. At this time it was 6pm. So I hauled tail to the hotel to hurry and check in. This was extremely inconvenient as I had people with me and we were all shopping. So I had to leave them shopping and drive 18 minutes

Very clean, awesome view, and comfortable beds. If these three things are important, stay here !
If you want frills and pictures on the wall, don't.
Id rather have the three. Very relaxing place and nice people work there . Will stay again.

Family in for Thanksgiving. Life beach still has fishing and a fantastic little Christmas Village next to the beach. Saw some dolphins and ate some great Cajun food near by from a food truck. Bike ride the boardwalk or stroll the beach.

Not sure why I'm the first one reviewing this on Yelp. But another similar site that deals with advice on trips rates this as the #1 spot to stay, so I looked no further when deciding on a place to stay.

I fell in love with the South Wind Motel!! Ok, people, this is a BEACH TOWN with one traffic light, so don't go down there expecting the Hilton. However, you can expect comfortable clean accommodations (100% on their Sanitation Inspection from the Dept. of Health!) and a friendly, knowledgeable staff.

The ocean front units are wonderful. I had one on the third floor which had two
