She attended Saint Elizabeth Catholic School in Selma, Alabama until she began high school. She graduated from R.B. Hudson High School in 1956 and shortly thereafter, married her childhood sweetheart, Abner E. Williams. She became a military wife and travelled nationally and internationally with her husband and family.
