The String Bean Restaurant & Bar is located at the Northwest corner of Campbell and Mimosa (just east of Coit) in Richardson, Texas. The String Bean is THE place to get authentic Southern cuisine in the DFW area. Delicious sweet tea, meat loaf, pot roast, catfish, sweet potatoes, chicken 'n dumplins, cornbread, banana pudding.

If you need some good comfort food in North Dallas, look no further. The chicken-fried chicken is awesome! I can't rave enough about it. Same with the chicken-friend steak and mashed potatoes! I've loved the String Bean for years and followed them for lunch and dinner as they grew and moved locations.
Services
The String Bean was founded early in the fall of 1977 in an old Alfie's Fish & Chips building. The abbreviated menu that Joe Gibson and Debbi McSwain acquired in February of 1980 in the purchase of the restaurant had only 4 vegetables, 4 entrees, 2 cold sandwiches, and 3 desserts. Joe and Debbi were businees partners in this and one other venture for almost 3 years before they were married on Valentines Day in 1981.
My name is Dave Cogburn and I've been a regular customer at The String Bean Restaurant for over 20 years. It is without a doubt my favorite restaurant. I am taking a copywriting course and my first assignment was to write a piece about my favorite restaurant and this is the result.

This came as a complete surprise to Debbi, the owner, and my desire is to share with you my thoughts of what makes The String Bean a restaurant that you, too, will want to enjoy on a regular basis for years to come.Just Another Country Style Restaurant? Not Hardly! Let's face it. In our neighborhood there are many restaurants to choose from.

Great waiter and VERY good food! Good family restaurant. The breading on the chicken fried steak was probably the best I’ve had. The physical restaurant itself seems a little dated but I bet the regulars love it that way.

Been having their food on and off for more that 20+ years (they used to be at Spring Valley and Coit) and it has always been good. They do some of the best veggies and sides in town. All their meats and fish have been consistently delicious. Never been disappointed with to-go or dine in foods, Very friendly and welcoming staff. Cocktails have been yummy too! It's been a while since I had one but their margaritas are memorable!

Take your family here, or bring the guys (and gals!) for some drinks. Or bring a date.

This is such a weird place. But in a good way. Always ask about the specials and I've never had bad food or service here. Just good scratch made food. I really like it. But be warned pandemic or not it can get busy.

Thanksgiving menu was 10/10!! Perfect flavoring and not bland at all, which I was nervous about. Portion sizes were great. You can tell it is homemade and made with care. I’m grateful that they offered this option for the holiday. I will definitely be coming back
