In her work Ginger combines artisan skill with aesthetic finesse in making jewelry and small vessels in her downtown metals studio. Her skills at the bench, including forging, fabricating, etching, hollowform construction, creative stonesetting and texturing - when linked with her eye for contemporary but organic design - generate a unique and expressive body of work that conveys the mark of the human hand.
Jewelry is a narrative tool. Holding lots of information in a small package, jewelry is the most intimate of art forms. We wear it on our bodies. It's with us wherever we go. Sometimes it's simply about embellishment. But often it's about our story. In my twenties and early thirties I spent at least ten thousand hours learning to make jewelry in my laundry room.
In the decades since, her work and her business has evolved through many seasons, including retail, custom, and wholesale. Her work has been exhibited and collected worldwide. She also owned and operated an art gallery through which she represented dozens of other artists, in addition to selling her own work and teaching in the studio.
Standing at a jewelry counter before a smorgasbord of manufactured jewelry is not always the best place to be when you want something special. It all looks basically the same. And it feels. Stories are meant to be told, and exceptional well-selected jewelry ensures that our story is told, and retold, celebrating it each and every time.
