McClain Family Cellars is true realization of a dream. Jason, Sofia, and their three daughters, Kayla, Savanna, and Mackenzie, set out on a mission to create something that might truly bring a someone to understand the importance of life. When starting out on this journey we were never 100% sure how we would get where we wanted to go. All we knew was that we really enjoyed the times we shared with our family and friends. It was almost as if everything seemed to revolve around that one pass time. When I was in college I studied English and Romantic literature.
Our entry-level wine club. The Family Club has a low commitment, easy to engage and designed for people who want the nice savings and to join in the fun and all of the events. With so many wine tasting options we decided to go for this cute place because we saw how popular it was especially later in the day.
We both opted for the valley wine flight which came with 6 various white wines. The first one was our absolute favorite. This one was called the white sails and it was the perfect way to start our wine flight.
The final one, kiss of life, was also a favorite of mine. Unfortunately my friend didn't care much for this one.
The other wines were good too but these two definitely were the best IMO.

Wife and I exploring Solvang with another couple decided to do a tasting at McClain. My wife used to be in the business and our friend used to own and manage an Italian restaurant in Newport Beach. At $35 and $40 for a regular Red and Reserve flight, we thought the wines would be excellent, but they were nothing special.
The pours seemed light and after the 3rd pour, our friend Dom said so to our server, who very curtly stated, "It's a one ounce pour!" She then proceeded to add another few drops to his glass, then moved on. Really!!

So happy we wandered into this awesome little spot. Live music, good wine, wonderful ambiance and great decor. Did I mention the wine is amazing? Fun blends and meaningful names/labels that make the tasting experience that much more fun. The experience truly exceeds all expectations and has set the bar high for future tasting experiences. Brittany is a true gem. Isaiah also helped us and enhanced the experience making genuine conversation even though he was only on day 4 of the job. Brittany engaged and made us feel valued even though we are not members (but may be soon). It's open late and

Stumbled upon this place because of their late tasting hours (compared to others -7pm) and so glad we did! The vibe, the wine, the art, and our wine "tour guide" Elizabeth were so great that both my friend and I joined! I'm excited to try out their other locations too, but they have a high bar to live up to! Thanks Elizabeth & McClain Cellars for the perfect ending to our girls trip!

Love the wine and the service has been great. Shane really took care of me and my mom when we had a mini mother-daughter day. There's currently a lot of outdoor seating under a covering. The popcorn was great there, some cheese and chocolate for sale too. Only thing I could have wished for was a full kitchen but there are next door restaurants there if you want a meal.

We got the industrial flight which has a few white and red wines, the gentlemen was efficient in describing their flavor and where they came from. Outside seating was comfy, but a little warm.
The bathroom is a ways away and public, and the gentleman never brought us water after an entire flight as many times as we'd ask. That's ok!

Please know that I am not an avid wine drinker. I like what I like, and overall hate the pretentiousness of the wine industry. That being said, I like wine that tastes good. Don't ask me to taste the apricot, sandalwood, or spices. Ask me if it was good or not. Simple as that. That being said, this is a review of my humble experience and i do not pretend to suggest that everyone will find their wines delicious. I came, liked the wines, drank, and left happy. Amazing Service with amazing wine ambassadors. We came in early on Friday on a whim and it was the highlight of our day in Laguna! Jamie was excellent and the wines far exceeded my expectations! We will be back soon for more wine in the canyon!
We had the reserve tasting flight! We loved the Malbec and the Cab Sav were favorites. The Sangiovese was also delicious.

Our hotel offered 2 for 1. We got there right before it got to busy. The lady working sat us outside poured the wines and explained a bit about them. It was a very relaxing setting. All the wines here are good, I would love to visit their winery. I told the lady working she was doing awesome because she was working alone and was on point. She served everyone and gave everyone the same attention. Good wine, good pours and awesome service

Just wanted to pop in a say how much we enjoyed our time with Shane Smith. I really value someone being able to create a comfortable space. Shane was awesome. He was obviously super knowledgeable, but more importantly to me, he made us feel at home, comfortable and we were able to ask question, offer opinions, etc.
We also had our 1.5 year old with us and I know how much of a hassle/mess/extra burden that can be. He was super accommodating with her and that didn’t go unnoticed.

We are members of McClain and have tasted at both Laguna Beach and Buellton. Their wines are all fantastic! We were spending a few days in Los Olivos so decided to try their new location in Solvang. Walked in and were enamored by the aesthetics of the room. The decor is exquisite and their front patio is comfortable with an awning and fountains. People watch Mission Road! Elizabeth provided a great experience and explained each wine in great detail. Want to come back very soon!!!

We enjoyed a really nice Saturday evening at McClain’s in Laguna Beach. The setting was fun, the live music was enjoyable but not overbearing, the wine was fabulous and the wine steward, Shane, was very knowledgeable and engaging. Why not 5 stars? A dinner time wine tasting needs some fresh food…add flat breads, some pasta or some heavy hors d’oeuvres and the ball goes out of the park!

Loved this place! The servers were sooo attentive, remembered it was my friends birthday, let us try some wines because we were sooo indecisive without charge too!
Robert and Brittany were great, they made some excellent recommendations for us and were very accommodating! Made us feel so welcomed and had a wonderful time in solvang because of them!

Happen to be in Solvang waiting for my friend's winery to open when we came across McClain
Cellars. Love the decor and the atmosphere as will as the wine selection I pick for tasting. They offer 4 types I ended up buying one! Brittany was so nice and made us feel welcomed. They also host live music and certain days which I will be back to check out. Great Spot in Solvang!

Will be back! McClain was at first a welcome relief from the heat but we quickly fell in love with the ambiance and wine!! Taylor was our amazing "tour guide" through our tastings!! She was so knowledgeable about the wine, and fun to talk too. Loved that they had so many options for flights to choose from!! Today James Gentry was playing the sax for us and he was terrific. We came away with a few bottles of the sparkling rosé and look forward to coming back to not only the cool Solvang tasting room but checking out their Buelton and Laguana locations as well!!

What an amazing, soon to be local favorite gem. Fantastic wine selection for my wife and I who were in town for a work conference. The music kept us both entertained until they closed down. We bounced around from the well decorated inside and the comfy atmosphere on the patio. I am so glad we stumbled on to this place as it just opened.
I don't normally leave reviews anywhere I go, but so hope this place is thriving when I return to California!

McClain Cellars is a very cool little wine tasting spot with live music and patio dining on Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. I enjoy their Cabernet Sauvignon which is served at perfect temperature. We sat on the patio and relaxed while enjoying the live music performance by a very talented guitarist and singer. A great spot to stop and spend an hour while visiting the Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival this Summer!

Amazing wines, great service, just all around fantastic. Laid back and stylish, and super-friendly. You can do wine tasting flights or wine by the glass, served by knowledgeable ambassadors who really know their stuff. Get in before it gets too busy, as this place is about to take off! Live music and food too.
