Services
Durango Autoworks is an auto repair shop started in 1986 by Danny Stewart, the father of the current owner, Ian Stewart. In 2014, Ian and employee Dennis Rypkema partnered up and bought the business from Danny. Ever since, we have tried to keep the same integrity and customer service that Danny had supplied to the community for over 28 years.
We are one of the leading auto repair shops serving customers in Durango, CO, La Plata County, CO, Montezuma County, CO, and surrounding areas. All automotive repair and mechanic services at Durango Autoworks are performed by highly qualified mechanics. Our mechanic shop works on numerous vehicles with the use of quality truck and car repair equipment.
During the life of your vehicle, you should expect to replace the brake pads and rotors at least once. How frequently you'll need brake service depends on how often you drive, where you drive, and the quality of the brake parts installed. It's recommended you ask a service technician to check your brakes around the same time as a tire rotation - roughly every six months.
ASE-Certified Technicians: The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is an independent, non-profit organization that tests and certifies individual automotive repair technicians based on skills, knowledge, and experience. All NAPA AutoCare Centers employ ASE-certified technicians.

I just drove in from Austin, TX Just before the trip, a shop in Austin replaced my radiator and the crummy tech added water to the coolant instead of the coolant I gave them. I was worried at how light the color of the coolant was in the reservoir. 45 minutes before they closed on Dec 27, when the overnight low was going to be 14F (and colder in a few days), they agreed to do a quick test of the coolant. Indeed, it was mostly water and shows that it would freeze between 32F and 10F (not an exact science) and needed to be drained and replaced. They immediately put the car on a lift and put fresh

Very honest and reliable. I was driving through on my way to Utah and had an issue with the steering on my Honda Pilot. Ian trouble shooted it, fixed the problem and I was in my way. Very thankful for the quick and superb service. Thank you so much! I highly ret this auto shop! Wish they were in my home town.

Pretty disappointed & won't be coming hack. I've been coming here for quite some time and everyone had always been really kind and helpful. Most days I schedule and do a drop off in the morning and they call and say when it's ready.
Today, the man at the front desk was completely rude upon drop off. He acted as if I didn't have an appointment, though I had made it weeks in advance. Also at drop off I mentioned a couple hours was fine but I did need it before dark. He told me one hour. After four hours I called, he was again dismissive on the phone. Telling me another hour

Durango Autoworks has been my garage for over 40 years. Jimmy is the only one who's been there all this time and the only one who's ever touched any of my cars and trucks. Others have come and gone. I have an '02 Tacoma I bought when it was a year old. Now pushing 219,000 miles...and with regular maintenance and check ups still runs like a new truck. I only had one problem waaay back...the day the new "Sun Machine" was installed. My old '66 Ford needed a tune up and the machine was used on it...yikes. I took the truck back the next day and Jim fixed it right....hey

I was having a transmission problem and took my truck to the shop that the dodge dealership recommended and they were clueless. I called auto works and they were able to get me in and diagnosed the problem and had me back on the road in less then a week. They also took great care of my truck and even parked it inside over the weekend for me. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a quality mechanic.

This is a great shop. Yes, you’ll have to wait to get in, but it’s worth the wait if you can. These guys do excellent work, do it quickly, and have reasonable rates with no BS.
Came here on a recommendation from another customer who’s been taking their cars here for over 20 years. Now I see why. Very highly recommended

We were driving through Durango and had an AC issue. I knew finding a mechanic who could fit us in would be difficult. After calling 5 different establishments Durango Autoworks, who had no openings, told me to bring it in and they would run the computer to at least give me some details on the issue. Before running the computer the gentlemen looked at the compressor and mentioned how the issue was due to the ground wire not being securely connected. He fixed the issue and we were on our way. Reminded me exactly what you want in a mechanic shop. You can tell they make relationships with their customers

Not even sure where to start. My son stopped in on his way home to have his window fixed, to have his tires balanced, and a front end alignment. They noticed that he needed an upper ball Joint. The other one was bad, but they said he should be ok to drive it the rest of the way home, as he didn't have enough money to get it replaced. If he had called, I would have had the work done. After the work was done, he texted me a copy of the bill. The bill was fair. The problem I had was that my son was told the front end was "tweaked" so they couldn't align it to spec. On the way

I've had small and medium-size jobs done there, and always had a good experience. It is good that if they are backed up, they will tell you a later time and date to bring the car in, and when you do, they get it done fast. I recently had a pad and rotor brake job done on a Mercedes sedan there -- done in an afternoon. And it was $50 less than a friend had a similar job done on a Subaru at another shop. Friendly folks and good work.
