The team at Goulet Law is passionate about helping families. Before opening her firm to focus solely on family law and estate planning, attorney Vanessa Goulet worked in family law and litigation, and began taking on pro bono family law work as a volunteer attorney before launching Goulet Law, PLLC in Henderson, Nevada.

While the area of family law includes divorce, this section addresses paternity, child custody and child support matters, whether incident to divorce or following the separation of unmarried couples. Divorcing or separating from a partner you have children with can be much more complicated than divorcing or separating when there are no children involved.

In some cases, spouses may decide it is appropriate to formally and legally separate, rather than obtain a divorce, such as for religious or moral reasons, or to maintain medical benefits under a spouse's plan.
The effect of a legal separation (also called "separate maintenance") is to achieve all the same results as divorce (i.e., property division, spousal support, etc.), except legal separation/separate maintenance does not terminate the parties' marital status.Of note, parties can later decide - after successfully obtaining a Decree of Separate Maintenance - that they wish to proceed with a divorce.

Vanessa was upfront and honest with me in regarding my case. She listened to everything I had to say and did her research before I even came in to see her. She is prepared for anything that may or may not happen. Vanessa is heartfelt but strong when it came time to go to court. She truly does help her clients the best that she can. One word OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend Vanessa to everyone who is in need of a family lawyer. She is smart, fair and clearly demonstrates her knowledge of the law. Vanessa's fees are very reasonable and she is very accommodating.
