What can I expect from counseling? Counseling seeks to help clients change behavior, attitudes, and/or perceptions about themselves, others, and the world around them. During counseling, we seek to stimulate growth. Counselors seek to arouse the belief that help is possible, correct erroneous beliefs about the world, develop competencies in social living, and help clients accept themselves as persons of worth.
I've decided I want to get counseling for my child/ren. What do I look for? In choosing a counselor for your child/ren, look for someone who has experience with children-especially if your child is facing specialized issues (e.g., ADD/ADHD, divorce, stepfamily issues, school behavior, substance use, etc.).
Discussions devolve into unproductive conversations in which the 'D' word (divorce) is used frequently. One member of the couple has had an extra-marital affair-either physically or emotionally. How much does Couples Counseling Cost? Couples Counseling - First Session (80-90 minutes). Couples Counseling - Regular Session (80-90 minutes).

Mrs. Wheeler is a fantastic counselor. If your family is struggling, or you're stuck at a place in your life and can't move forward, this is a place that will help with that. The Center For Families is an appropriate name, because in the end, she is able to help you and what is best for your family.

I have had a dreadful experience with Helen Wheeler. It took her over a year to follow the court order to provide co-parenting. She is biased and most recently in a co-parenting appointment told me in front of my husband that I have a motive to make things up to make him look like a bad parent. She later apologized to me after my husband had left but the irreparable damage was done. She would not listen to any of my concerns and when I asked her about concerning statements our son made about ending his pain she told me "that's hyperbole and i won't address that". I have recorded all of our conversations

Did not feel listened to, got shut down on several instances, did not let me speak or express my point of view. Was hoping to get an understanding professional who would help my ex and I get to underlying issues to co-parent effectively; instead we got a list of "do this, do that, don't do this, don't do that", that we could have gotten in any co-parenting book. So much for the expensive sessions. Co-parenting sessions cost close to twice a regular session, which is NOT an industry standard. She was also going to make me pay for my ex's fees because she had not set up the billing properly.
