What a wonderful place this is! Mr. Jason and the staff are WONDERFUL with the kids. The kids learn discipline, to be respectful of others, patience, increase self-confidence, cooperation, he redirects and disciplines with a warm, humorous interaction without embarrassing the child. This is a class for students in Fairfax County who have at least two months of Tae Kwon Do Training or have passed their white belt exam from our school. White and Yellow Belt tae kwon do students will be grouped in this class where they will learn more advanced Tae Kwon Do techniques. A student coming in two times week will normally spend 6-8 months in class.
World Karate has been teaching an innovative Tae Kwon Do curriculum in Fairfax County for decades. It is a system that is never static as we will adapt to update and improve our teaching methods and techniques. Communication is lacking. Child attended Saturday class. I dropped child off for Saturday class a few weeks ago but unbeknownst to me the class had been cancelled via email late Friday evening. I did not see the email prior to the class time, which had been cancelled for belt testing. Instructor did not call me to let me know class was cancelled but left child sitting in corner of gym to watch belt testing. Jason is very welcoming, patient with beginners and a very professional person. He knows how to warn people up to the environment and make them feel apart of something. Jason is fantastic with kids and really has their best interest in mind with everything he does. Both of our boys have been taking classes with him for several years. They have learned discipline, they have gained confidence, and they have enjoyed learning tae kwon do. He has been great during this time of social distancing teaching live classes online. I cant stress enough how beneficial World Karate has been to my family. With all the stress of the world going on right now they have made the continuous learning process easy using ZOOM classes. My kids are full of energy and still have a chance to learn, advance and release energy while cooped up in the house. They miss their actual classes but the new classes are just as exciting. We started going to World Karate around early 2019. Since then, our son has made continuous progress which has led to better discipline in other areas. Jason is an incredible Sensei. He is super patient with all the kids and gives them individual attention. His assistants are great too. For the younger kids, each lesson has stretching, individual exercises, group exercises, and a life lesson at the end. There are different age groups with different lesson formats. We are so happy to have World Karate in our lives!

My son has been attending WK since the summer of 2017 and has loved it ever since! The summer camp is a big hit with the different activities every day, the after school program is wonderful, and the life lessons and friendships are irreplaceable! We had our son's 6th birthday at the Karate studio and Mr. Jason and his team do an amazing job and all the kids had an amazing time! Can't recommend WK enough!

We have been a part of the WK family for almost 2 years. My husband and 7 year old son take Jiu Jitsu. My sister who is a college student takes Jiu Jitsu and I take Kickboxing classes. We are very pleased with WK and thankful for everything that we have learned. It has brought our family closer and truly enjoy it all. Jason and his staff are amazing. Wonderful place for both kids and grownups. As a father of four, I have been to my share of birthday parties. But the owner Jason is so good working with kids that he is in a league of his own. We have 20+ kids in the birthday party today, but he was able to keep them engaged and have fun at the same time during the entire party. Many parents afterwards ask him about signing up for classes. Both of my children attended World Karate for Tai Kwan Do lessons, after school care from Laurel Ridge elementary school & some summer camps as well. World Karate offers great program, both kids learned a lot and they still talk about their experiences at World Karate fondly even though they are now teenagers. We wanted our 5 yr old son to do a weekly physical activity. After some research my husband and I decided to put him in the tots class twice a week. It's amazing to see how Mr. Jason (owner and former student of the original owner) is able to organize and teach a group of tots. We're new but took 6 months to decide on this location. We read the yelp reviews under the previous name "Carl Runk's." All reviews were excellent. The staff fosters a welcoming atmosphere for both student and parent. Excellent communicators. Our child asks to attend every day. Form and fun are obviously essential. Courtesies are also top notch; each student recognizes teacher with "yes, sir," all students properly welcome and introduce themselves to new students.

Last summer, I was in search of an after school program for my child. I learned of World Karate from my child's school. As soon as we walked through the door, the owner, Mr. Jason, greeted us with a very friendly and welcoming approach. I've been attending the adult cardio kickboxing classes at World Karate since July 2013 and I love it there. The instructors are great, pushing you to get a great workout and helping you with your boxing form. The classes have a good variety of exercises. All classes involve punching or kicking. Sometimes you work alone on a standing bag and sometimes you are partnered up and holding a bag for your partner to punch. My daughters ages 9, 7 and my niece age 7 love this place. At first they were a little discourage with the idea of Karate in general, but once they earned their white belt and later got their yellow and begin sparing, they seem to love Karate so much more. They practice it on their own at home often. This school does a great job with the after school program. They work with the kids doing their homework, and they teach them discipline and respect every single day. I cannot be more happy with this program as I picked it as an alternative to SACC.
