Services
The Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet was established in 1974 to train students who wish to study the art of ballet and who also demand the very best dance training available. All Academy students, regardless of age or interest, receive the same high quality training whether enrolled in the Regular or Adult Division.
All our teachers follow the Vaganova method which is based on an eight-year teaching syllabus created by Russian ballerina Agrippina Vaganova. This method has influenced ballet pedagogy throughout the world and is regarded as a standard of ballet instruction. Since all PAB teachers work from the same method, students are ensured continuity as they progress from one level to another.
The regular Leveled student program, Pre-Ballet, Adult, and Pre-Professional training programs comprise our 36-week academic year session beginning in September and ending in June. PAB offers multiple classes per week for our Leveled students from Level 1 through Level 7. Levels are determined by age and experience.
The PAB faculty all employ the same Vaganova teaching method assuring indispensable continuity and providing students with a precise technique, musicality and complete body awareness and control. Growing up in Southern California, John White began his ballet training with Oleg Tupine and Michel Panaieff.
