Tim moved Brandt Sheet Metal Co. three times, in 1953 to East Market Street, in 1956 to North Linn Street, and finally in 1966 to its current home on Highland Court. In 1961, he changed the name to Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc and tagged it with the slogan "Only the rich can afford poor heat".
Tim retired in 2002 in which his son, Bill, succeeded him as President. He continues to build upon the foundation of customer service as its highest priority. Now with the 2nd and 3rd generations, Bill, TJ, James, Alissa, and the entire staff of Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning are dedicated to providing the best service and products possible.

The rechnician from Brandt arrived within hours of my call to Brandt Heating. My furnace had not been working for a few days. Warren was friendly, professional, thorough. He explained what he was checking and why. It turned out to be a common issue and my furnace was running with minutes of him removing the furnace cover. I highly recommend this company and will use them again if issues arise.

I initially selected Brandt based on the positive reviews - and will say that those positive reviews are very likely their norm. However it seems I was part of a series of unfortunate events mostly due to internal communication issues at Brandt. Issues ranging from charges for things that I shouldn't have been charged for, to receiving an invoice for nearly 2X the original quote, to having the install rep put in unnecessary equipment, my experience was very frustrating and I hope other people don't encounter what I experienced. I need to highlight that every single interaction with Brandt employees

Our AC quit working during the last heat wave. Naturally at that time Brandt was booked up for over a week. But one of their technicians finished another job early and came out the same day we called. They quickly diagnosed that it was just a bad solenoid, replaced it and we were back in business in no time. Thank you!

Service technician arrived on time and was polite and friendly. The work was completed & I have no complaints about the quality of the work.
Took the technician 8 minutes to complete my job (I checked my Arlo for an accurate arrival & departure time), I needed a smart thermostat electrical connection to my furnace. I had already installed the new thermostat I ONLY needed a connection to the HVAC/furnace. This took 8 minutes. The technician then went to his next job.
Bill was for $110 for 8 minutes of work. Paid the bill but I don't feel like

We have been in Iowa City for just over a year and we wanted to install a gas fireplace insert. Brandt had done all the service for the previous owners, so we contacted them. We are pleased with every aspect of working with Brandt. All staff involved were professional, helpful and had great workmanship. There were no hidden costs. We highly recommend them.

With an upcoming home inspection, I wanted to ensure that everything was in good working order and nice and clean. I called on a Saturday morning and was surprised to get someone. They took my name and number and said they would call me back on Monday to schedule an appointment. First thing Monday morning I got a phone call from them. Within five minutes I had an appointment scheduled for the next day. The service was fine, however, billing was a red flag and 3x the initial quote. I was quoted an hourly rate. Service time was 20 minutes and the bill was 3x the amount. The invoice did not breakdown the costs and I called the company to request details. The owner called and sounded very annoyed I would question the total, rambling about transportation costs, labor costs, etc. I was not disputing the bill, but any consumer receiving a bill significantly higher should be able to receive a polite, professional response.

Quoted pricing over the phone and then it was double when they got out there. It was a simple servicing with nothing special, you would think they would know how much that be, or at least not be 100% off.

Called them at almost 6 pm on a cold snowy night for a non-emergency: gas fireplace glass popped out. The guy on the phone walked me through shutting off the pilot, but I'd never done that before and for all I know nobody else had, either, since it had been installed. So I called back once for reassurance, and then again to say, hey look, please just come out and have a look to make sure this is okay and I'm not poisoning us or about to blow us up. Brandt put in all my heating in my new house. 14months after install one pipe started to leak causing water to drip into my furnace. I was worried some thing my short out, I called lady who answered was not friendly or sympathetic, said it be $95 for them to come out to look at it, I asked about warranty and she stated we dont warranty our labor...clearly they dont back there own work! Yikes. Because of this I wont use them again after they come out to fix this issue. Crossing fingers water dripping into my furnace doesnt cause it to start fire the wait is a few days!

We have recently had a new air conditioning system installed by Brandt. It is amazing to have a company that pays very close attention to all details from start to finish of a project. The care taken in determining the size of the outside compressor and then the reworking of the air ducts in our 100 year old house to make our home perfectly comfortable is much appreciated. This company is a winner!
