Family Vision Center is one of the oldest and largest family eye care practices in Connecticut. The first Family Vision Center office was opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1964 by Dr. Michael Gorman. The success of the first Family Vision Center office led to the opening of yet another office in 1985 located in Stratford, Connecticut.

Strongly recommend. If you have a need for professional eye care, Family Vision center is the place. They quickly helped me with a painful situation with my eye. I wasn’t sure if I needed an Ophthalmologist and realized I was served quicker and probably better by the Vision Center’s Doctors. They are very professional, thorough, and treated my discomfort. I was taken care of by Dr Burns, who was outstanding and solved my issues, which other doctors (not Family Vision) were unable to figure out. I can’t thank them enough for their great service but more importantly their professional capabilities

Top notch service... latest equipment for diagnosis. Minimal wait, all safety precautions taken. However the advice that it's ok to drive after drops and glaucoma test is nieve. I only had to drive 1.5miles home and found it a grueling experience. Intersections were an approximate guess when to cross. I wish and hope in the future they'd provide safety sunglasses.

I've been going there for years and this last appointment
Was horrible
I sat forever waiting, then was given all sorts of exams that i usually don't get
Then doctor was rushing me . He seemed annoyed through the whole exam
I got the wrong prescription for contacts twice
I know the eyeglasses are expensive but the sales guy was pushing for all unnecessary bs . Hundred of dollars extra..... got charged for something that he knew insurance wouldn't pay for. Shady.
I won't go back. Do yourself a favor go elsewhere.

I am truly impressed with your nice facility and the caring staff and friendly can do attitude and smile‘s! Especially Jessica, Ashley, Liz and Kayla! I have been a patient for many of years in both offices. In ln the recent years I have visited the stratford location. The receptionist are very personable and knowledgeable. They always go over my copay ahead of the visit and make me aware of the fees (even if I'm not happy with my insurance coverage) the doctors are thorough and answer any questions I have. I do seem to wait a few minutes but much shorter than my other doctors, and I find they are definitely worth the wait. When selecting glasses the staff is very friendly and they have a wonderful selection of designer frames. I have been

I called to make an appointment and was told they were waiting for approval to take Medicare. I took the appointment because they were pretty positive that they would get approval. A week before the appointment they called to tell me they still had no approval from Medicare. I called Medicare and they said all the Dr. had to do was apply and they would be approved ASAP. I called Family Vision back and they beat around the bush and the excuse they gave me was so lame I can't even recall what they said. Coming here (at the recommendation of a very discerning friend) was such a great experience. Not only did the person who took my call listen carefully and professionally, she was able to fit me in after a cancellation. Dr. West was so thorough and helpful, and diagnosed a problem I didn't know I had. He was also able to offer some different options for treatment. Now I have a prescription that actually corrects my vision, and medical treatment for a condition that could have become serious over time. Thank you so much, Family Vision Center!

My first experience with this company will be my last. I was kept waiting patiently as the multitude of staff seemed more interested in congregating and talking amongst themselves. The help was a joke as they offered no assistance- just interesting in taking your order.
I was told that I would be contacted as soon as the my glasses were ready. This did not happen. When I called to check on the status, I was put on hold for 5 minutes. I finally hung up and called again. No apology was offered as they forgot my call on hold.
Parking here is terrible, Go elsewhere.

Can't speak about the doctors at this location, I was just looking to get my prescription filled. First, know before you go if and you want to browse frames forget it. You have to sit in the lobby seating area and wait to be "let in" to their frame coral area. When I finally got in I felt rushed and like it was a bother to allow me look at frames. I picked out frames, the tech was short, uninterested and I feel miserable and unfriendly. I placed my order, when I returned to pick up my glasses her personality was dismal. Very satisfied with thorough exam I got from Dr. Ohlig as a new patient of Family Vision Center's Stratford office. She answered all of my questions, and her past experience in a Lasik surgical practice was specifically helpful to me. Dr. Ohlig offered me several logical alternatives to give me the best vision improvement, considering cost and practicality. I was happy with Family Vision Center's staff, especially with Mike, who helped me set up my initial appointment.
